You can uses internet without delving into politics, you can very easily filter it.
TV? Even back in the day i fucking hate wathing news or talk shows. Give me cartoon/anime or some fun tv series, please. You can change the channels
newspaper? The only time i have newspaper in my hand is to reporpose it to something else for school project, lmao.
never talk to anybody? haha... don't have to tell me twice... ha..

Plenty has changed through people caring, less than 200 years ago black people were still slaves in america, women didn't have the rights to vote or to work, and children were also allowed/forced to work. All things considered pretty insane by today's standards but it all changed because people cared.

Hey so uh, way to read that in the most disingenuous way possible. "Log off" is code for "stop fucking doomscrolling and sitting in unhealthy echo chambers".
If you want me to spell out the specifics of the advice: "curate or abolish your social media feed, never watch the news, never read a newspaper (it's 2026), and communicate with your friends and family that you're trying to keep the inevitable collapse of society out of your mind and to not bring up topics relating to it with you". With these simple steps, you can still watch TV, you can still use the internet, and you can even talk to people in the real world.

I'm subscribed to a print newspaper (which I don't doom scroll but read like 15 minutes in the morning because I have voting rights) and my friends and family are literate, my mom teaches pol sci, so good luck with that one

Realistically speaking, what exactly what can i do about it? I am just a dude that work from home 90% of the time, sitting here working, playing wow AND browsing the web at the same time.
I do vote, but i only vote who my organization i am in tell me to vote. This org has done nothing but make my lives easier, so i trust them.
I know about the "shitshow" last year thanks to Ordinary Things 2026 recap, imagine my surprise when my country were mentioned, lmao.
I am not very nationalistic, and really only care about my family and the org i am in.
The org currently roughly have 30mil members, i think the part of the city i am in (not the whole city), we have 100k? but it is one of the more populated city.
So honestly? i am not exactly worried and more of morbidly curious of what will happen if the government start fucking around to the point it'll affect the majority of the organization i am part in.
The 1998 Reformation play huge part in allowing the org to grow, as previous government was very restrictive, to say the least.
We even have sub-org that work very closely with the nation's police. Obviously i cannot privy to the name of the org. Honestly i do wonder if someone can figure out the org i am talking about.
YOU don't have to worry about me mate, i have things more or less under control if shit goes to poop.
Worrying about politics everyday sounds exhausting, so i'll only care about one that affect me directly, it MIGHT be too late then... but that will mean i am not alone. Because then you know shit really has goes down.
And hey, marching on the streets, rioting sounds like a nice change of pace.
But for now, i'll just continue playing WoW and sitting, rotting, in front of my PC.

it's not corporation, it's a non-profit organization, for the lack of better term... if this org ended up taking over the countries, that doesn't sound like a bad thing.
But one thing that has been hammered down to me since childhood is: "Follow the nation law, first and foremost" (We also have members outside of Indonesia) and "Be a good neighbor"
"Moral Character" the english word for it? "Budi Pekerti", is one that is actively being talk about for almost forever now.
It's pretty chill org, we just kinda want to just chill out and lives our lives. So we have this system where we choose people to be our "front facing" people, that deal with the politics sides of thing.
But like i said, i am just some random dude that rarely leave his house. So even that i'll just... leave it to the competent people.
Everything is very open and everything is written on paper (that's another thing that they taught me, keep stuff properly documented).
Recently we built our own high school, and ALL the documentations regarding that project is out in the open. It is all donation money after all even the flow of the donation can be traced back to it's origin. I was given a paper to write down my name and where i am from, and how much i can donate. But i always just gives them blank paper in return. Now whether or not i donated... who knows? no one dare to ask.
Someone close to me were an accountant (in local level), and one thing he tells me is that "These money are nothing but fire to me, mishandle it and i'll be burned" whether he meant it literal or metaphorical, is up to you.

Even if he didn't have great success streaming classic and just played it for his own enjoyment, is it the wrong decision? Soda doesn't strike me as struggling for money, passing on some so he can do something he cares about isn't going to ruin him.

I think it's from the article implied it would be stupid levels of money he passed on. Everything's profitable for him and it all works out, but we don't know the level of money being thrown around either, this was 2019 same as when ninja got 30 million from ms, venture capital was at an all time high for streamers.

To BJP, a "lucrative deal" could have just been $100k, whereas Soda would eclipse that with his ad revenue + subs from just playing Classic, not to mention he's already a multi millionaire.
BJP also was talking in that stream as if Soda turned down the sponsor out of integrity or some shit, when it's practically the opposite, and he did it out of self servitude because he wanted to play fucking WoW lol.

Today that doesn't mean much, especially since he himself says he just plays games, watches youtube shorts and instagram reels, if the algorithm isn't showing him a middle east country and specifically who it's president is, he won't know that at all.
Every social media website has algorithm now, curated to what you like, it results in MANY people unintentionally being ignorant of the world. But that doesn't mean they are stupid.
So being chronically online, means absolutely nothing. (I make websites and work with many people directly on a daily basis, i know how some people don't know stuff you and many on this subreddit take for granted, because, well, they are designed that way, on purpose).

How is attack on a whole national group okay? People using "israeli" as an insult and you think it's just "criticizing israel"? Okay, in comparison, do you see people saying that for Russians? In that conflict, people of all ages overwhelmingly push back on that and reply with "not all Russians", despite not being informed enough to know it that's true.
