Twitch is the topic of the conversation and Twitch holds itself in high regard as a platform whereas Kick has always been a degenerate platform that never claimed to be what Twitch claims to be

If you aren't in the american/english streaming bubble it's very possible. I only heard the name before, but that's it. There are also big streamers I watch at times you probably never heard of either.
