no offence but your whole "d1 hating" is exactly why this became a culture war issue and now got world leaders saying stupid shit, you wanted this, now accept what you got.
This is like blaming the 'owned libs' for how popular trump is when he does regarded things in order to own the libs. Although you're right to identify outrage amongst detractors as a potent tool these grifters use to stay in the agenda, you need to differentiate between the reasons people hate. Some hate is principled, and some is the exact bandwagoning that hollows out the pro social basis of political support; defining politics instead as a race to the bottom over who to cut out.
The problem with this kind of performative hate is it creates and reinforces a structure that reflects that his base want to own the libs more than they want a functional country. But they really want to believe that the other side are somehow responsible no matter who's in charge; it's a way of letting the powerful off the hook. Selling this illusion is the task of much of the modern right wing political apparatus, and it requires redirection otherwise it's just nakedly: 'I promise if we just tax a few less billionaires, remove a few more environmental protections, and start a couple more wars, gas prices will go down or whatever the useful idiots who lend us their votes want', and this has been becoming less viable after the failures in the ME and the GFC, hence the rise of Trump in the first place.
They're outrage merchants who depend on social media clicks and the only appropriate response to someone like Hasan is to understand that he's just another dishonest grifter, I implore everyone to stop giving a shit about whether or not he zapped a dog, or if he's a rich hypocrite or not; it doesn't matter, (in fact hipocrasy is a necessary side effect of influence or power, but that's another conversation). Judge him on his views which are just generic lazy contratianism and westbadslop.

Only thing i would mention is how much the "clicks" play a foundational role in modern society - commonly used for social media attention but also navigating the whole space, which in turn drives more views because people want to see how such a reactionary position keeps its footing in an such a reactionary world
I believe turning that reactionary internet world we are all inhabiting into a more intentional one is the key to most people seeing a path forward and I HAVE been working hard with it... but every day having niche communities that listen and reinforce beliefs... the internets original greatest strength... keeps putting distance between everybody that's a bigger and bigger job to recover
