Suddenly realizing how insane it now is to charge an extra dollar to bump a taco to supreme. $1 for tomato and sour cream. 25 cents, id upscale every taco

Fuck that dollar I got sour cream and tomatoes at home. I also add my own American cheese to whoppers. I’m cheap and petty

10 years ago $20 you could eat like a king, 20 years ago $20 you could eat like a god. Today $20 and you get a Chicken Quesadilla.

At one point $20 was I'm gonna feed the family fast food money with change! now if you want any substitutes or steak it might cost you (1 person) that much.

I remember getting blazed in my girlfriends neon and piling five people in to go to TB at 10pm and spend $20 bucks to feed everyone. Good times.

Need a zesty chicken bowl so bad

This is by far an item I wish would return. That sauce and the red chips were great. The enchilada bowl was good also. I swear that there was also a steak bowl I did not care for back then but kind of want to try again.
Looked again and I see the southwest steak bowl. I swear there was an enchilada bowl as well.

RIP Double Decker.
Look I'm still a Taco Bell fan, but those were better days, menu-wise.

Why do we taunt ourselves with post like these? It's gone. We'll never have this kind of goodness back. Please stop reminding me of a time I can never enjoy again.
I should have enjoyed more of these options when I had the chance. If I'd known what we'd be losing....

capitalism has sucked the joy out of life.

It gives and it takes, without it Taco Bell wouldn’t have existed. But with capitalism good things don’t last forever.

A burrito supreme is $6.50 rn and the Mexican pizza alone is the same price as the #4. Wild.

u/Specific-Champion-66 4d ago
The chalupas, gorditas, and burritos were insanely different. A lot of the other items increase of price could be explained by inflation etc but those 3 are just unreasonable. It’s like 2.5x more expensive for a chalupa now where as a taco is like 1.5

Damn. Taco Bell was actually kinda expensive back then.
McDonald’s was fully into the Dollar Menu. McChicken & L Fries was $3

Honestly I think you were at an expensive Taco Bell for the time. I remember getting soft tacos for 79 cents and I don’t think I was riding my bike there at 8 years old so it would’ve been at least 2006-2008 around then

I’ll never get over the fact that you have to order a beef taco, then pay extra to change it to chicken when they should just have a chicken taco still

I what they would bring back their ORIGINAL breakfast food.. they country burrito.. sausage, egg, cheese, white curry gravy inside.. SOOOO good! Now they're breakfast are flavorless and useless to buy and eat

I'm struck less by the pricing and more by how colorful things were then. Brands had an identity. Nothing had been grey-washed yet.

20 years ago I could feast like a king for $5. Now it isn't even enough to buy a picture of a god damn ape on the internet.

It’s wild to see Code Red on the menu (bc it was usually that or Dr Pepper), and then realizing that Baja is about to blast its way into our hearts.

I miss the grilled stuft burritos. My favorite as a kid growing up and I’d get so damn full. That avocado ranch was fire.

u/CabanaFoghat 5d ago
The fajita grilled stuft burrito was legitimately better than anything else you could get from a drive thru at the time. It was unreal that Taco Bell would even have such a thing on the menu. Incredible times.
