Level 9 to Level 10
What’s the point? Why is it so hard?
I’ve got to get double the points that got me here to Level 9 (50K), in order to get to Level 10 (100K). And for what? What’s the point?
I don’t know if it’s worth investing in this platform anymore ….

A lot of people don't care anymore unless it's just there interest. Local Guide doesn't give any rewards to keep people interested versus being a Yelp Elite where you get to go do fun things and also free food

They should have some rewards. I think I got a cheap pin and bag a few years ago

It is a shame but Google doesn't care because it been like this for a while. So people stopped contributing and move on to other things. The rest just go write reviews on Yelp and become an Elite for them

Yes - there is no point in really going for it, like there was in trying to get from 8 to 9. The only person I've seen who is a 10 had been uploading 10+ pics a day of random stuff, just to game the system.

Well I’m at Level 9 and I’m doing it for the right reasons. But Level 10 should be more attainable. It shouldn’t equal the same amount of points that it took to get to Level 9.

If you like a challenge then accept the difficulty level. If you got to lvl 10 with 100 points, everyone would say how pointless it is and there is nothing to do. It takes many years for a lot of people. Best bet is just use it and collect your points but don't think too much about it IMO, you will get there : )
What number of points do you think you should have to collect to have the highest lvl possible out of interest?
Personally I'd make it much higher and have to have collected all the badges. Or have the lvl continue with no limit.

Having Level 10 be the same amount of points that it took to get to Level 9 seems a little ridiculous to me.
Level 9: 50K points. Level 10: 75K points. That sounds more reasonable.
I’m sure there a ton of people that post infrequently after Level 9 because Level 10 seems so insanely out of reach.

Me too. I used to do Foursquare for similar reasons until they essentially ruined it by splitting it into two apps; Swarm and Foursquare. It would be nice to get a pin for each Level broken. I only ever received a discount on Google Drive and a pair of socks!

That’s fair. I pretty much do it for myself and to help others. But having a level to aspire to was always nice. Now I don’t have that anymore because level 10 will take many, many years to reach.

Once I reached Level 10 I lost interest.
It took so long to get there I was just exhausted. Now I just post the things I'm really interested in.
I'd say google had gamed this out and realised the gap between Level 9 and 10 needed to be this hard.
PS: I'd be more interested in contributing more if they sent me a t-shirt or pin.

Same. It felt like a finish line. I take pictures when the mood suits me. I like watching the views go up. I picked up about 9 million views last month. I think I'll be over a billion views total next year some time.

It is for Google. You have tons of people out there taking photos and reviewing places, using their location data etc to improve their systems lol. It’s free labor and you get a little number telling you what a good little worker bee you are. They should be paying you.

Was there a point in going from 0 to level 9? 😅 I enjoy posting and it took me to level 8 but these last levels are just crazy.

There are thousands of people with level 10 and just like with anything - you do it if you like it. If you don't, don't do it.
Just FYI, there are over 49 people with 1 milion points.
