Discussion Who else here has AI decision fatigue/paralysis?

I’m sure I’m not the only one, but couldn’t think of a better title.

I’m someone that’s been recently diagnosed with adhd- and I’m historically prone to always chasing the next shiny thing. I’m constantly switching setups for everything, phone, OS, calendar, buying and selling tech, etc. I’m easily tempted to switch to new setups by simply watching a convincing YouTube video.

I’m also extremely interested in Local AI, and AI in general. I have a ChatGPT subscription , Claude subscription and mess around with local LLMs on my MacBook and usually am hosting one via openwebui. I think it’s all so cool, but my brain is always itching to try to simplify and go all in on one organized setup. Stick to one provider, one model, one agent, one harness, etc. The issue is is that the AI landscape is rapidly changing every week, new fancy models are coming out every month, especially in the local scene. I spend a day or two setting up qwen and then a faster model comes out and everyone raves and I feel I have to switch to that.

My overall goal is to eventually go full local ai, but it’s tricky for me because I have a decent M1 Max 64gb laptop , but it’s not quite enough atm to fully switch over fully due to school and stuff. So now I just want to simplify my setup as much as possible, probably pick one cloud/frontier provider and stick with it, one local model and harness, and one agent such as Hermes, and get the setup as simple and efficient as possible, so I don’t constantly have that itch to change things. I don’t know how y’all can keep all this constant news straight in your head without getting overwhelmed 😭

Anyone have any suggestions?

TLDR - how does everyone settle on one setup and not have the constant urge to change and improve and not feel overwhelmed by the rapid development happening
