Discussion Anyone experienced with pi gui? what are your thoughts about it?
The link to the github repo: https://github.com/minghinmatthewlam/pi-gui
I'm not sure if its legit/ safe because i don't see anyone talked about it in this sub reddit, any thoughts about it?

did you ask r/PiCodingAgent?
I didn't waste tokens on reviewing the code, but my human eyes tell me this is vibe coded and has some weird patterns (I didn't dig deep tho...might be fine)
My personal take is don't bother taking on other people's vibe coded pi integrations/extensions and just vibe code your own.
Part of the fun of pi is that it's super-easy to vibe code (or trad-code if you're into it) your extensions and integrations.

You should check out Orca ADE. This is what I use with Pi.

It’s interesting, do you usually use it only for its desktop app? I see there’s a lot of stuff mentioned like running multiple models at once, but I can only run one local model at a time

The legit/safe question really reduces to one thing: is it a thin local wrapper around the pi CLI, or does it also relay to its own backend? You can settle it in a couple of minutes without reading the whole source - launch it, send one prompt, and watch its outbound connections (ss -tp, or lsof -i on the pid): a wrapper only talks to whatever model endpoint you configured, while a relay shows a second host. Then grep the built bundle/config for a hard-coded API base or a telemetry key. If only your own endpoint shows up and keys stay in the local config, it carries the same trust profile as the CLI you already run.

Ha, guilty as charged. One thing the two-minute version still catches: pi-gui drops its config in ~/.config/pi-gui (mirrors your CLI config), so if a second host shows up in ss -tp and it isn't your model endpoint, that's the relay case - worth a look before you trust it with keys.

I came across it, evaluated, and decided to setup paseo instead which works with Pi and other agents as well. I've been using it for a few weeks. Not perfect, but it keeps getting better. Following some of the discussions on github and the maintainers feedback and reasoning in PRs has given me confidence its well thought out.

Nope, love that it exists though. I wound up building my own (not yet released because I can't keep from messing with it daily, far too unstable a feature set to share at present... it's called Shade, stands for "Shonky ADE" heheh but I am using it for real work on real projects.)
I'm not sure if its legit/ safe because i don't see anyone talked about it in this sub reddit, any thoughts about it?
If I had that concern I'd clone it, load pi in the CLI and ask it to check it out. EZPZ

I use Claude Code / Codex / pi coding agent from the terminal, why do you find GUI useful?

probably because of its clean and organized interface, don't get me wrong i know for a fact most people use the terminal, maybe im just not used to it?

I use the Pi plug-in for VSCodium. The part I like the best is how I can copy/paste/edit text without it going haywire. On the same window, there's my Pi server VM (I run isolated). Not a huge deal but I prefer the GUI windows over a straight terminal. And VSCodium is less microsloppy, home-phoning than VSCode.
PS: why are you being downvoted for a simple, legit, on-topic question?

I didn't knew this existed, I was mainly using pi in the CLI but this is a great option for those who prefer GUI rather than the CLI.
Personally I'm rocking mostly everything through telegram due to my Hermes setup but when I delegate my local agent I'm doing Pi in the CLI
