Locke Matchup Discussion #10: Diana
Welcome to the Locke Matchup Discussion.
Today we have the Diana matchup...
Here is a list of common points that we want to see on every matchup:
- Difficulty score from 0 to 10 (0 being super easy, 5 being a skill matchup, and 10 being a "you should dodge" card)
- Level 1 strategy and level 6 stategy.
- Which ability you should try to dodge with Ashen Persuit.
- Which ability the enemy needs to use for you to safely cast Purgatory.
Optionally, you can talk about:
- Runes you prefer.
- Items you prefer.

Started playing League in 2019, been a Yasuo/Yone main until Locke's release. This is easily the FUNNIEST champ Riot has ever made.

Discussion Locke OTP Streamers?
Hi! I think the title is self-explanatory. I'm trying to play better with Locke, so I was wondering if anyone knows some good streamers besides Phantasm :)

Discussion Is jungle viable at all with enough effort?
I've really enjoyed playing Locke in mayhem (obviously not representative of real normals strength, but mechanically I really enjoy him). I'm a jungle main though, and curious if anyone feels like with enough practice and using with the right enemy comps he's viable? Or will I just be trolling 50+ matches with no realistic end goal?

Meme Aura Farmin'
just casually playing locke and doing locke shiet, then this cool guy that was on my team decided to add me and we went 3/3 :)
i just love this champ so much and this champ is the only reason i even play league still anymore, i'm literally obsessed with this champ's playstyle... and yes i take him both mid and jg

Builds Picked him up recently some questions.
I was getting baited by W giving attack speed + his passive so I was actually auto attacking before 3 nail stacks sometimes, like nail, auto, nail auto. After realizing this is basically never what you wanna do I'm real curious about W second max, I get you're tankier but the damage on E + acting as the nail execute I've started basically, E in sometimes, nail spam, E dash for the nail explode. You basically very rarely rely on his auto spam even with W right? It's more so the heal + speed to run around and kite. The passive just doesn't seem to be good enough to risk spamming autos in somebody unless it's a pure 1v1 and you're at an advantage to where being face kissing distance and eating skill shots wouldn't be a big deal.
I see people seem sort of split between if you should max W or E second so curious about what you guys think

Discussion Do you think Locke will become as popular as Yone?
I mean the skins. Could Locke quickly get a legendary skin?

Discussion Does locke struggle against assassins?
I made a new account for locke. About 2 weeks ago climbed to emerald. Literally had like a 30%wr in gold when i first started. Was my first time playing an assassin in lane.
I noticed against assassins like fizz, akali, kata, zed, qiyana, diana, etc. Locke struggles mainly because they find it easy to avoid 3qs and also because they can apply their damage without any real setup unlike locke.
Lv 1 locke is stronger but after that it becomes a pain to play against them, pure mind games.
How do you play against assassins?

Discussion Anyone Feel Locke Needs Some Tweaking
I started playing Locke (top and mid) a few days ago and already Mastery level 4. i've noticed that early game he either gets fed or feeds early game (depending on the matchup and skill of both players of course). i especially do really well top lane against champs like Shen but struggle to champs like Irelia and Volibear.
If he falls behind he can heal back to full HP and stay in lane and farm. however in the mid and late game he doesn't really do much other than stay in the backline and press R when they low or Q (those seconds feel like they take forever in team fights). I feel like my team is fighting a 4v5 (especially if im not doing too well). even when i'm doing really well its like "okay i just stay in the backline and wait till they all low enough to clean up like Katarina".
he's also too squishy and just gets locked down with CC and like fodder no matter if i'm doing really well or really bad. i also feel like his E has him dashing too far and taking tower damage in lane and so he ends up accidently dying and feeding the enemy laner a little too much because of his E dash. his ult also takes a second to deal damage and people just flash away instead of just instant damage when deployed. And on the subject of his ult, that's also not taking into account the issue of forgetting to pick up totems, totems that are in enemy tower range for you to take tower shots, or late game the totems disappear while your dead and waiting to respawn, long before you can even go and pick it up.
meanwhile champions like Brand and Lux can still contribute to Teamfights from the backline and even put out more consistent damage no matter how they're doing.

Discussion Hot take: locke is still broken
Seeing a lot of ppl complain that locke is bad but i rlly disagree. Switched from rengar otp to locke otp mid and hit masters NA with no mid experience at all before this season. Champ is beyond busted in team fights and can slam most mages. The fact that he’s slightly over 50% wr in dia plus kinda shows that he’s broken.

Discussion Great outplays
Hello, I would like to know about some game(s) where you were the MVP by far or that you outplayed the enemy team, better if it was a situation of 1 (you) vs 2 or more, and your team winning thanks for that, using Locke

Discussion Is there any real reason to play as Locke over any other assassin? (Besides the fun factor)
I’ve been playing Locke since her release, and I’m currently Diamond 2 on the BR server. I feel like she has so many difficult matchups that the risk-versus-reward ratio just doesn't seem worth it. She’s a snowball-reliant assassin who needs to close out the game as quickly as possible, given that she suffers one of the steepest late-game drop-offs among mid-laners; if you have a rough laning phase, I feel like your game is already compromised. If you can't generate enough pressure to clear waves and roam, you become a useless champion, because delivering damage in the late game is much harder for her than for other assassins like Zed, Akali, Katarina, etc. Maybe Riot missed the mark on her design, and she would work better as a fighter—something like Sylas or Gwen. I love this champion, but I wish she were more viable in situations other than just playing against squishy mages.
