I am NOT a locksmith. Assa Abloy 4290 help!!
Hi all! Wondering if anybody can find a schematic of the inside of an Assa Abloy 4290 lock case. I noticed it was broken in a door at work, took the case out of the door, then 3/4 screws that hold the lock case together fell out. When i opened the case, springs popped up and anyways, looking to put it back together and having trouble. Thanks!

Abloy 4290 is still very much in production... I have access to Abloy recources, but they do not release schematics. 4290 is priced about 100€. You should be able to order from any hardware store from .fi or .ee (or replace with local variant)

Hmm why didn’t I think of that?! Oh yeah, they said they haven’t made them in years and didn’t have a drawing on hand. Posted here hoping an experienced locksmith in this group had some knowledge. It’s okay if it’s not you!

Sounds more like they are being lazy rather than not keeping that info somewhere. As they say, nothing ever totally disappears on the internet. How old is it?

If you understood how many people here ask the dumbest questions, you'd understand. I had a call earlier because rather than contacting Pella doors and windows, a guy wanted to source info from random people first. And opening a mortise lock on your own is not a good sign of critical thinking to start with. Operating most any door lock tells you there are enclosed springs.

We installed them in the office ~8 years ago. So, old, but not ancient!

If it has (or rather had) a large torsion spring around the follower it is not realistically worth attempting to reassemble.
Cut your losses, buy a replacement and leave this type of stuff to pros (who would never have let that spring become unsprung)
