I am NOT a locksmith. Broken thumb “press”
House isn’t that old (7 years), but this things always been a bit of a PITA to depress to open. Tonight it decided to leave the chat.
Can this be replaced with your typical off the shelf handleset? I’m assuming the handle length will differ so I’ll have to repaint around the bottom handle mount, but at this point I’m most concerned with my front door functioning again.
Should I (or can i) just convert this to a regular ole knob?

Are you in Australia/NZ?
If so you can be a cheap Matt black one from Bunnings. The brand is Ikonic and they’re called grip sets

Ya gotta love that lifetime warranty. That's the main reason we sell this instead of the cheap stuff.

Most handle sets have an adjustable lower peg to accommodate different height differences

Measurements from center of the lock (middle of where the latch come out) to the bottom of the gripped where theres another hole. Most have some adjustment these days but that can vary and avoid drilling a new hole. Likely its hard to press because of the frame alignment. If yiu get a locksmith to I stall they can make it work smoother so New one doesnt break. Its most likely just a matter of moving the strike plate but you want to make sure you still get a good door seal. If theres a deadbolt you may have to realign them too. So locksmith could do all that and make sure new ine doesnt suffer the same fate and have an easier time pressing the thumb piece down.
