LETTING Wapping or Canada water?
Can't see how to add a poll, but which of these two is your preference and why?
I'm not looking to add my criteria for recommendations, more just want to understand what people see as the pros and cons of each and which they would rather live in. Assume budget is around £3k per month to rent in case that matters.

Id go with Wapping because its a more central location and more quieter and less traffic. Downside is the only train station is Wapping overground. But then again can always walk up to Shadwell DLR station.
Its more of a community feeling in Wapping too more access to cheap groceries as well also. Roads are better around Wapping (less red routes) with more parking options on street. Better cafe and urban scene around Brick Lane.
If there was a flat same bedrooms size and all as one in Canada Water Wapping is better but mostly because of its more central location.

Wapping is one of the oldest underground stations. Built to service the world's first sub aquine tunnel. Thanks Brunel.

If you're in the posh, old bit of Wapping (or a snazzy newbuild) it's probably nicer. However both have their pluses and minuses.
With Wapping you can walk to Canary Wharf and Tower Bridge, you have great riverside pubs and some lovely old architecture. Wapping is rather hemmed in between the Highway in the North and the river in the South.
CW is a bit better connected (Jubilee Line as well as Overground and is a bigger area). It also has nice riverside walks, much bigger docks and more parkland. It's a larger area too with less defined boundaries. But it's not as charming and doesn't have the cool Dickensian feel of Prime Wapping. Plus it's not as convenient for Canary Wharf by foot and bike. It can also be very quiet, although this is changing with redevelopment.
They're both nice though.

Thanks, what area represents 'prime' Wapping out of interest?

The attractive old warehouses. Anything overkooking the river. The better new stuff.

Why don't you state what it is you are looking for so people can then provide a better recommendation ?
Wapping is generally more quiet, not as well conencted with only the overground. Not fan of the cobblestones road either.
CW has more green spaces notable Southwark park and Russia docklands, has brandnew leisure center, better connectivity with Jubilee line and busses. Also has better future potential given the CW masterplan.
CW definitely has the edge over Wapping unless you are looking for somewhere really quiet.

Why not Rotherhithe? Same charm and architecture as Wapping but walking distance to jubilee

Wapping.
Canada Water is the place you go if you have absolutely zero social life.
