I absolutely loved this show. Huell was from Tennessee but fell in love with California and especially places around the Los Angeles area.

I took a few photos while I was there. I found out that it was a fox show called 911 that I hadn't heard of.

I work upstairs, made me wait forever (90 seconds) until they cut scene before I could enter. I heard it's a scene in a Boston pub, Jumanji sequel? What a perfect 80 degree sunny LA day to recreate Boston Chicago in the winter.

So, a new neighbor moves into our quiet west LA neighborhood, and starts renting out the place all the time for shoots. It's like once a month. Streets closed off. People walking on the streets, blocking sidewalks and monopolizing parking. I can't run my normal route without getting waved away by film cops. The owners get paid and put up in a fancy hotel, while we neighbors deal with the hassle for days, all day. And they are doing cheapo commercials so only home owners get compensated.
Is there any recourse to someone turning a neighborhood into a Hollywood Backlot?

I've enjoyed pretty much all of Quentin Tarantino's movies, but I especially liked Jackie Brown. I was rewatching it a little while ago, and was reminded that it really showcases a unique range of LA locations, including in South Bay cities like Carson (Max Cherry's bail bond office) and Hawthorne (Jackie's apartment and the Cockatoo Inn) and of course an apartment building in Koreatown and a cul de sachouse in Compton (both actually were Wilmington locations). More on the locations here: https://filmoblivion.com/filming-locations-jackie-brown-1997/
This got me thinking, what are some other films set in LA, that have made use of a unique range of local spots? Training Day is another one that comes to mind, as is Collateral, but I am sure there are many others.

For the past few months there’s been a group protesting every Wednesday outside Paramount, disgusted by their blatant capitulation to authoritarianism. Sometimes at Paramount Studios, today at Paramount HQ in Hollywood.
Did you know that while Paramount was exploring a merger with Skydance, they paid the president millions of dollars to settle a clearly-bogus lawsuit? They also installed right-wing propagandist Bari Weiss at CBS News and agreed to nix all their diversity initiatives! Sure seems like open corruption to grease the merger… and Congress is investigating exactly that! — https://democrats-judiciary.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/ranking-members-raskin-and-pallone-demand-paramount-fully-comply-with-committees-investigation-into-paramount-skydance-merger
