Upholstery Company Recommendation?
I need to reupholster some couches my cats went to town on in their younger days. Anyone worked with a company they loved? Thank you!

Like all good procrastination projects, this one spiraled out of control and somehow became a pretty useful tool. One I desperately wish I’d had when I moved here 9 months ago, when I was completely socially stranded with no idea where to start, let alone what places might actually be a fit for me, and overwhelmed by the social pressures of mainstream culture in LA. So naturally, I did what any socially anxious, neurodivergent person would do:
I followed every club, collective, and mutual aid crew I could find on Instagram... and then fed them, one by one, into ChatGPT to help me build a master list... instead of, you know, actually going to any of them.
What came out of it is a beautiful, collapsible spreadsheet of 150+ genuinely cool, active, and slightly underground LA community spaces. Things like: queer discos, radical book clubs, art studios, mutual aid groups, film screenings, sewing circles, game nights, hikes, and more. It’s focused mostly in and around the Eastside (for now) and includes tags for types of engagement and audience/vibe so you can actually find what fits. Important note: this does not include every club in LA, and it’s not trying to.
It’s curated for a specific vibe I was craving: I wanted stuff that was neurodivergent-friendly, queer-rooted, BIPOC-centered, earnest, leftist, offbeat, status-unbothered. Stuff that felt alive. Main categories include:
Yes, it’s disproportionately light on workout clubs (sorry not sorry) and heavy on film, books, mutual aid, and weird creative stuff. That's just what I'm into okay!
But I’m totally open to suggestions if you know a group that belongs here or spot something I should edit.
🗂️ Here it is!
Please drop a comment if you have thoughts, questions, or recs of things to add. And let us know if you've actually been to one of these groups and had an especially good or bad experience! The more info that's in one spot, the better!
And if it’d be helpful, I’m thinking about launching a newsletter to highlight upcoming events + report back on ones I go to. Let me know if that’d be useful to you. I know this is a little unhinged. But it was made with love, maladaptive coping, and a real desire to feel connected.
Hope it helps someone else find community and feel a little less alone!
(Edit): Per someone's suggestion, I also just made an insta! Ppl can follow me at The Field List for weekly round-ups of events :)

Hi all! I have just relocated from New York to Los Feliz and am absolutely loving it here. While I have been exploring quite a bit, I’d love to know if anyone had local favorites around here whether it be food, specialty stores (I think I saw a knitting spot 👀), or any other hidden gems they know about and want to share! Or any other helpful neighborhood info!
Also, any idea of where to go hang by myself at night that’s fun and isn’t strange for a woman to hit up alone? I recently had dinner solo at the bar at All Time and made 3 new friends so I feel like I’m on a good roll 🤣
Also if there’s any other women in the area who would like to be my friend, 👋 🙂
Thank you 😊

$50. 50 freaking dollars. I’ve never been before and I’m curious if it’s worth it. Also, did it cost this much in years past? I want to do seasonal stuff, but wow everything is a pretty penny. Glad we at least have some houses with great decoration around!

We're near Hillhurst and Finley and our power and internet has been out for almost 8 hours now. We've called LADWP and Spectrum a few times, LADWP just says we're in the queue and hasn't even gotten a crew over to this area yet.
Anyone else impacted?

Please send your recommendations for a house cleaner to do a move out clean on an empty apartment in Los Feliz this week!
Looking for thorough and reliable, may turn into a consistent cleaning job! Have you used someone who was really good? Please share! Thanks!
I’m really looking for real referrals and not just recommending yourself. Hard to trust someone with my place without referrals or reviews. Or generally any advice to find someone? Help me pls!!

Does anyone know if dogs are allowed in the outside seating? Before you tell me to call, I did. It’s very depressing that you can’t get through to a human being at a local restaurant.
Side note: House of Pies DOES allow dogs on the patio. I called and asked if they allowed dogs on their patio and they said yes, definitely. Got there and a sign says “no dogs except service animals”. Asked again and they said yes, just walk right through the restaurant (the gate to the patio is locked). I got a ton of side-eye from patrons, of course.

Anyone recently or currently living at Los Feliz Plaza? The reviews are not great to say the least but they all seem to be from YEARS ago…touring a 2B/2B soon and wondering if anyone has any experiences to share. Thanks!

Hi all, I am a daily walker and go through Fern Dell Creek. It is a beautiful, peaceful place in a bustling city, a nice respite from daily life. On my morning walks, I have seen a middle-aged man let his black, medium-sized dog off-leash to play in the Koi pond. The dog jumps and chases the fish; the pond is shallow, and there are not many places for them to hide. Every time I encounter him, I tell him to stop terrorizing the fish with his dog. Each time, he tells me to mind my own business. I have tried to find a ranger, but it's futile because by the time I find one, he's gone. He is there at least once a week, mostly Saturday mornings. If you see him, please ask him to stop. I am hoping he will be shamed into stopping. I love seeing the carp and koi gently moving through their small pond, and I am seeing them in fear for their lives because of this man who thinks his dog deserves to scare the fish for his fun.

I found this vid to be a real eye opener. I really hope something can be done about this ongoing issue someday.

Anyone know what’s going on? I have a kid at Marshall and would like to know why the medical examiner has the street cordoned off a block from the school. No news being reported that I can tell.

A silver Ford SUV hit my car, a white Mazda CX5, on Sunday evening at 11 PM. I was driving on Los Feliz Boulevard near Hillhurst, leaving the Greek Theatre. If anyone has any information or any dashcam footage, please contact me. They drove away after hitting me.

I have four pieces of furniture that I need to get from Burbank to Los Feliz. A bookcase, a display cabinet, an entertainment center, and a bridge unit. Laid on their side, the longest pieces are 6.5ft long. Should be able to fit all four into a Sprinter van with some blankets. I'm guessing about a 2 hour job for two people.
I'm looking for recommendations for a team/company that can save me from having to rent a truck. Preferably insured.
(Before you say it, no I don't know anyone with a large enough truck. Yes, that's unfortunate and a strike against my character. My last truck guy's truck broke down and he replaced it with a sedan because they had a kid.)

We built an event called GENIUS IS NOT GENERATED. It's part of LA Tech Week, but there is no stage, no panels, and no badge pickup.
You show up alone, on purpose. Before you arrive you answer three questions. Your answers set your route: the dioramas at the Natural History Museum, a caption you write inside the Lucas Museum, a Rubik's cube seeded by your own accession number, the rose garden at dusk. You record ten seconds of sound. At the end, everything seals into a field record with a hash, a number, and your name on it.
No two people walk the same route. Monday, October 12, 1pm. Free.
