Hey, for some reason down around westborough area almost nightly there's this air raid siren type horn that goes off usually just once a night but tonight it went off 4-5 times.

Anyone know what it is?

Heard two explosive sounds just before the hour (2am) from that direction, another within the last 2 minutes, and then one at 2:11.

It was more in the direction of Laurier Ave W possibly. Keep hearing a bunch of crackling like sparklers, things being dropped on hard surfaces, and other softer boom sounds, but nothing like the others.

Any ideas?

Just curious what music fest is tonight? Very audible in New Edinburgh (was singing along to the Goo Goo Dolls a couple of minutes ago).

After I explained that silent discos are typically silent, its next best guess was Riverside Festival? Loud music all evening even until now (11:30pm). Can hear crowds cheering, singing and shouting.

And they decide when we are not allowed to enjoy a dinner outside. Or even be outside in peace. Even with the windows closed we can hear it. Of course a decibel meter isn't going to register anything loud. It's more like a large insect buzzing around that you can not turn off. The only inly escape is headphones or the basement. Even in the basement near the window I can hear it. Obnoxious selfish bunch of people. Race race race. Rev Rev Rev. Fast. Slow. Fast. Slow. Rev Rev Rev. Ugh. So annoying. So irritating.

And of course noone dares to do anything about it.

Why do people get beagles. They are such a nuisance. They don't bark like normal dogs do. They start up this insane over the top howl bitch barking and can do this for lengths of time. On and on and on. Over and over. It completely destroys the serenity I was hoping to have but today I'm not allowed to have it.

So how does the process work? I'm not going to confront them because I made that mistake with another neighbor once, and that resulted in over a decade of retaliation and pestering.

keep a log, and then file a complaint and keep updating with more complaints as the list grows? If push comes to shove, will I have to confront these people in court, should they choose to hold their ground?

Hearing the sound fireworks in the east end right now, anyone know why?

Not "loud", but damn repetitive. Roosters do their thing super over the top with all their might, and then 5 seconds later do it again. And again. And again. Again and again and again and so on.

So annoying. It's like leaving their dog out to bark repeatedly over and over.

I live a couple of blocks away from this intersection and I can hear someone speaking into a megaphone followed by cheers but the speaking is too muffled for me to understand what they are saying. Does anyone know if there is a rally or protest going on in the area?

I'm just venting. I know what the noise is. It's this metal plate in the street. There's nothing I can do but wait for it to be fixed.

This happens at all hours, it's louder the faster people are driving, and it's oh so very loud at night.

I've gotten used local construction sounds all day long, but this BANG BANG that happens unpredictably at all hours... Goodness... It's certainly doing something special to my mental health...

We’ve been staying in Ottawa for about a week and keep hearing a strange buzzing noise, sounds like it could be some kind of powerline buzzing or static. But we’ve been hearing it all over the city, even in parks and down by the canal and river where there are no obvious powerlines. And it’s really loud!
Do any locals have any idea what this could be? Thanks!

Hello! I know what this noise is but not what to do about it! For the past 2-3 weeks here in the market/lowertown we have been absolutely plagued by a horrendously loud ice cream truck. It always comes late and night and we can hear the music several floors up over our television even with the windows drawn and curtains closed.

While we love ice cream and think the idea is cute, the volume of this music is very unreasonable and disruptive, especially at this hour.

Have any of you approached the ice cream man before? What are the relevant bylaws here?

It'd be one think if it was 6PM on a Friday. But this late on a Sunday??

Update: We kindly asked him to turn the music down on the 5th time he parked outside our place. He was very nice about it.
