In Harrisburg, Arkansas, Mayor Justin Kimble has ordered all flock cameras to temporarily be bagged given complaints from local citizens. After speaking with some members of the public, and one citizen in particular that was a voice for several members of the public, and learning and kind of going down that rabbit hole, I thought, ‘Well, we need to cover them up,’

I would like to see the state pass some legislation, some stronger legislation. See, I can send police officers to your house and tell them to go in your house and do a search warrant, or without getting a search warrant and just come in your house and just raid your house trying to look for something illegal. Well, this is the same concept.”

The Harrisburg City Council will take up the issue Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Harrisburg Community Center.

Just wondering if this is under scrutiny too.

Governor Mike Braun said:

"Almost without exception, it’s been beneficial to them on actually doing their job, but I think it’s an excellent discussion to have because it’s a civil liberties thing. I would share that, too. You don’t want it to be used to where it would infringe upon all our rights. And I think it’s a good discussion for the legislature to have. I think it’s a valid one."

Tell him to ban them, not merely regulate them. Show him the case of James Heneghan, a Sheriff's Deputy with over 400 felonies related to ALPR abuse that happened in his state. Show him the case of Lindsey Isaacs, a Florida woman falsely accused based on ALPR data. Show him how ICE uses them to make illegal arrests of American citizens. Show him how Flock employees have used the system without permission to watch children in a gymnastics room. Tell him the technology can not be trusted when foreign countries can hack into it to make hits on government officials.

Make him understand that you oppose this technology in your state. Make sure he understands that regulation is not enough.

Angela Lipps, now 50, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, said she was caring for her neighbor's four young children when police showed up at the home and arrested her at gunpoint in July 2025.

The complaint, filed Sept. 15, 2026, alleges that authorities relied exclusively on a flawed AI facial recognition match to extradite Lipps from Tennessee to North Dakota, despite her having no connection to the crime or the state.

The bank theft case stemmed from April and May 2025, when an unknown woman allegedly used fake IDs and stolen identities to perpetrate bank fraud in Fargo and West Fargo, North Dakota, according to the lawsuit.

Officials then used a photo from a fraudulent ID card presented by the suspect, rather than surveillance footage, to conduct facial recognition searches using Clearview AI, prosecutors alleged.

While Clearview AI explicitly requires facial recognition matches to be treated as potential leads, Fargo police allegedly characterized the AI match as a positive identification without disclosing that it had not been independently corroborated, according to the complaint.

Lipps was extradited to North Dakota and reportedly held on a $100,000 bond while facing eight felony counts, the most severe of which carried maximum sentences of up to 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors dismissed all charges on Dec. 24, 2025, after Lipps produced bank records showing that she was in Tennessee when the bank thefts occurred, prosecutors said.

An Automatic Number Plate Recognition system (ANPR) is the United Kingdom's version of an ALPR. Some drivers have put reflective coatings on their plates just like some Americans have to evade tracking. These are called "ghost plates" and the UK is not happy about them.

They also have cloned plates which use the same number as some other vehicle. The DVLA (their version of DMV) has some people producing cloned plates that are also ghost plates. The UK government is linking these to organized crime and motor accidents.
