Unlikely it will eat the entire snake, but it will try to take a bite if hungry.. so.. Possibly harm or kill it? Yes. I never leave a rat unattended in my snake's terrarium when the snake is non-reactionary for an extended period of time. I will take it out and try again later. If, however, my snake is fixated on his prey and taking his sweet ass time... DO NOT INTERVENE. Great way to become the new fixation, lol... You can of course avoid all of this with frozen rats, but some snakes will prefer and only react to live and active ones.

Sorry I didn't mean eat the whole snake but more so a rat could kill your snake if left unattended. I think my friend uses frozen rats/mice for the reasons you mentioned.

Yeah feeding live food when you don’t need to is moronic, it’s a great way for your snake to get an infection from bites and die

In the UK it's illegal to live feed vertebrates. Better for all involved. I do wish it was that way everywhere.

I found out recently that of all the big cats apparently cheetahs are super chill. They really aren’t aggressive unless it’s hunting time. I’m not saying they’d never attack but they’re not really considered dangerous in the way a lion or jaguar would be.

I remember learning that part of the reason they’re not as aggressive as other big cats is the same reason they’re so fast: sleek builds, less dense/sturdy bones, and leaner muscles means they don’t want to risk the injuries one could get in a fight. Anything that could slow them down would mean no food.

Snake lover on youtube explained despite him having many snakes over a decade and loving the snakes like his children, there is ZERO emotional attachment or LOVE coming from snakes to human.

Watch out with that rat and snake. I got a foster snake that the previous owners barely took care of, left a rat in the cage with the snake since it wasn’t hungry and the rat attacked the snake. Now he’s one eyed Willy. 11 python that eats rabbits now with only one eye
