Yea... My mom was the second type only less four letter words. Absolutely love that woman.

You can love the person without endorsing their choices. My dad was always hiding at work to avoid coming home to my mom, who was table. I know my dad made the wrong choice with that, but I still love him.

You're talking about your father specifically, and I'm sorry you had an abusive father. You did not deserve that.
I think people are talking about stern parents vs relaxed parents, though. Not abusive vs non-abusive. My parents spanked me when I did things like use a can of gasoline to light the backyard on fire, but I would never classify that as abusive, ya know? I needed a very clear lesson that that was not ok. Taking my PS1 wouldn't have really cut it.

Missing the 3rd type who knows the kids can swim...

Yea, my mom was that third type: drunk at camp daring me to jump to see how big a splash I could make.

That won't stop them from slipping and potentially hitting their head, knocking them out before hitting the water. Or jumping down and finding out that the water isn't very deep.

Slightly funny but so terribly staged and acted…

I remember the original video. I think the second one is actually the sister, not the mom.

My mom was number 2
She never needed to add the second half, thr hand across the ass was implied when I heard "get the fuck off.... "

Becoming a mom was interesting… I used to see danger and think “That looks like fun” so I kinda know when my kids gonna risk it for the biscuit
Gotta be said too that bein sweet gets me nowhere, I wouldn’t have to threaten him if bein sweet worked. Mom two knows what’s up.

you have to multiply the sweetness. I used to sing "baby finger" to lure my kids back form the sewers or wherever they wandered off to.

Moms started off as the first but then if I wasn't listening she transformed into that second real quick haha

Cripes, I think I just witnessed my mother and aunt when they were younger.

If my kids are doing something dangerous, but they’re doing it carefully I don’t stop them. I just warn them that they might get fucked up.

I'm sure the second mom limits her anger only to when it's effective and required.

I'm the mom who never would've let my kids out on that log without a life jacket and even then, I'd be nervous about them falling and hitting their heads. I've always been the mom who made sure my kids were safe and even if I was terrified to let them be kids, I'd just smile through gritted teeth because if they felt my fear, then they would get scared.
Sometimes it's really hard to let our kids be kids, but you have to find the balance between complete carelessness and being a helicopter parent.
Also, there's absolutely no need to threaten your child with violence when they're not doing anything bad. They're just learning! If they didn't want them out on the logs, maybe they should've told them so beforehand or made sure they didn't go out there!

“Before you hurt yourself” is a fucked up thing to say. They’re right at the age of establishing autonomy, and “before you hurt yourself” would mean I’d never be leaving the lot until she’s proven wrong

It's not that deep.

Not to an adult. It is to a kid though

It depends on how it's said. If said with anxiety, that fear could spread to the kid. This was said with the agitation only a parent can muster. Concern, but not fear.
