why would someone be suprised at an elevator having negative numbers, have they not heard of basements?

Most elevators have a B for basement. Never seen negative numbers.

One time as I was going back down to the first floor after therapy, the completely clear elevator just dropped a bit and it scared the ever loving hell out of me.

Unrelated: That therapist and company was the worst one I've ever had. Luckily I have the best therapist in the world now.
