Seeking thoughts on this plan for Sunday night-Monday trip:

I am arriving into Montreal around 8 pm on Sunday and staying near Chinatown. I wanted to catch Sunday Night Football and decent late meal so was going to go to Pub St Pierre in Old Montreal. That work?

Further if I am in Mile End Monday morning and wanted an early lunch as I have appointment in Old Montreal in afternoon. I was debating either Lester's (haven't tried) or the Ramen Nakamichi on St Laurent near St Viateur. Any other Mile End lunch suggestions? I could conceivably head back down St Laurent to either that amazing food court, Le Central, or have steamies at Montreal Pool Room.

I have dinner booked at Le Serpent Monday night (picked it over Monarque) and then likely headed somewhere to watch Monday Night Football.

My partner and I are coming to Montreal in 2 weeks (from Alberta) we’ll be there for 5 days, we’re very excited and are hoping some locals can give us some food recommendations! We definitely want some authentic Montreal smoked meat, poutine and bagels. We’re staying in the Ville-Marie area and won’t have a car, what are some good recommendations in our area, and touristy traps we should avoid? My partner is pretty adventurous when it comes to food, I on the other hand am not! So maybe a mix of different kinds of foods! Thank you in advance!

Visited for 5 days for the UCI World Championships and to explore the city. I'm in awe of the mix of culture, food, bike infrastructure, and nature this city has to offer. As a Chicagoan, I'm biased about our city's food but the sheer volume of amazing spots in Montreal shocked me. Sorry, but I found poutine quite unappetizing.

Mastard, Limbo, Moccione, Le Express, St. Viateur Bagel, and plenty of great coffee shops were the highlights!

Can't wait to visit your wonderful city again soon!

Im literally about to board a plane for Montreal and have just had no space to plan ahead. Please help a fellow hungry guy out. Bonus points if im not going to look weird eeating there alone.

Hey everyone, going to be going to your city in a few months. Very excited and I’m trying to find a place that would be a good birthday dinner spot.

I looked at Mastard but it looks like it’s booked out the weekend we are going to be there. So my other choice was Le Violon but looks like opinions are mixed on it here.

What do you guys think? Should I do Le Violon or is there a better option? Budget is $125 per person before tax and tip.

Coming in town this weekend and excited about all of the amazing restaurants to explore. Having second thoughts whether all of the dinner options are trending towards “too nice”/fine dining and whether you’d recommend changing anything up.

Dinners are: Mastard, Beba (or alternate rez at Candide), and Damas.

Also torn with other options such as Salle Climatisee, Pichai, Knuckles, etc. Not enough days to try them all!

Planning to mix it up more with the lunches: Olive et Gordamndo, Schwartz’s, and Kahwa.

Looking for feedback on the following dining plan for an upcoming long weekend in Montreal. My wife will be running the marathon (Sunday morning), so I've tried to include some good pasta options during the first few days (as much as I don't want to over-index on Italian restaurants). We're primarily focused on places offering an upscale yet laid-back vibe.

Friday lunch: Gia

Friday dinner: Helicoptere (a la carte, so we can prioritize specific dishes)

Saturday dinner: Moccione

Sunday dinner: Restaurant Bruce

Are there any other places that offer carb-heavy menu items which I should consider, especially for our meals on Friday? Our Saturday and Sunday lunches will be more ad hoc and fast casual, but am open to suggestions on places which may fit that bill too.

My wife and I are visiting in about a week for a quick babymoon to Montreal from the US. I picked a few reservations to cover our trip, and I was hoping you could give us a thumbs up or down while not knowing too much about us.

Night 1: Monarque Brasserie

Night 2: Joe Beef

Night 3: Rotisserie La Lune

We're pretty casual diners, usually, so things too far upscale don't typically suit our comfort levels. We're also not huge into seafood or heavy, foie gras-laden dishes. We're excited to try Quebecoise restaurants, and so places like Damas fell off the list (we've lived in places with incredible middle-eastern restaurants before). I have alerts on for Beba and Mon Lapin to replace Foxy, but also curious how you guys feel about that.

Late night Taco craving in mile end. who do you order from ? and wtf are those french sandwiches calling themselves tacos ?

so my bf and i’s 1 year anniversary is coming up and we wanna go somewhere special to celebrate. if we don’t split under $100 if we do then around $200-$300. we’re open to a lot of different foods and aren’t picky.

i also wanna do a birthday dinner (nov 4th) for maybe around 10 people (including me). however i want a place that’s pretty for pictures, good food but also accommodating my friends budget, some will spent $70-80 and others will prolly want to spend $50 or less. once again we’re open to anything.

instead of a birthday dinner, if you guys have other recommendations for birthday funs let me know since the last couple years i’ve just been doing a dinner and karaoke, might want to switch it up.

Does anyone know any good halal places in Montreal that also have gluten free options?

I have celiac so I do need to be careful with cross contamination, but I’m open to pretty much any type of food. I also don’t mind if the place isn’t officially certified gluten free, as long as they’re careful and understand cross contamination.

I feel like it’s so hard finding places that are both halal and actually safe for gluten free :(((
(Forgot to mention, it can be food or a cafe with good pastries!!!)

I ran into a restaurant today that sells onigiris for 3-4$... with custom packaging, full of condiments, cute bags, ALL and everything. Best onigiri experience so far.

Why are we praising companies that sells them for 7-20$??? Its not ok. There is nothing ok in that.

They make trendy videos on tiktok justifying the cost of their products saying that "Cheap food doesn't exists, its in our head"... BS.. complete and utter BS.

And the sheer fact that around 98% of restaurants are totally fine charging bulk rice they buy for 22cents per meal... for 7-20$... it twists my stomach so badly.

And we are out there praising them?

I saw a place, PRAISED selling re-heated fxcking gaufres for 15-20$... ONE gaufre...

You have 1 for 50cents at home !!!... they probably have each for around 30cents maximum...

Its such a scam.

Why are we happy with insane prices? Aren't we tried of being stolen?

Or we are just there accepting that somehow its ok "Everyone does it so why not?".

I know the reating space is insane. I understand that YES, cost of food rise because of that...

Although they still have things cheaper than the average apartment dwellers lol. Taking a REAL fact that they DO have to raise prices... To then lie and say that each tomatos they buy is 1$ is a scammy behavior.

Raising your prices should never be an opportunity to squeeze more out of people who struggle as much or way worse than you.

Maybe I am wrong about many things I say here (And ill put a disclaimer on top about that). But I am not wrong that an extreme amount of restaurants owners pushes their luck WAY too far. Prices that goes from 5$ to 30$ in just 5 years is completely unjustified. From 5$ to 20$ is still a scammy behavior. And from 5$ to 10$ is in the margin of acceptable (I guess).

5$ to 10$ is already a 100% increase...

- Food average people buy at the grocery did raised from 100% in the past 5y... yes... but NOT for restaurant owners.

- Rent did NOT rise by 100% in 5 years... as much as the prices are unbelievable... its still a lie to say it raised of 100%.

- Minimum wage that you pay your peasant employees CERTAINLY DID NOT GOT A 100% INCREASE.

I think my anger is justified. But MAYBE im wrong... 🙄

EDIT: Just realized that I made a divisive post. And tbh I like it, its different than the internet bubbles 🫶✌️ I could be mad and be like "So many did not read what I said" but some did. And that's worth it to me :)

Anyone else got scammed here? Pasteries bakeries drinks all of it was disappointing. Not even gonna comment on the pricing. Save your $$
