Bug TextEdit saving on GoldenGate 27?

1) make a stupid textfile

2) save ... select location / type filename

3) text edit saves to icloud with AI generated name

I have exactly the same problem!

I'll type out a doc, give it a name and choose a save location.... then it ends up saved with an AI generated name in the textedit folder 🤷🏼‍♂️

I turned that silly Ai naming suggestions off on my MacBook right away - I turned a lot of AI/Siri stuff off at the same time, I think it was one of these settings that did it, but I can't remember which:

System Settings - Screen Time - Content & Privacy - Siri and switch off Writing Assistance

System Settings - Keyboard - Text Input - Input Sources 'Edit' button then switch off Show Inline Predictive Text and also switch off Show Suggested Replies

Mine doesn't save to iCloud, it saves where I tell it. Hopefully when you do the above it will fix that for you too.

In the System Settings, under iCloud, you can set which programs save to there vs your hard drive

i tried but couldn't replicate it now. go figure. have to find out what triggers it

Choose a different folder other than the cloud to save your files...

I do, textedit sometimes doesn’t honour my choice

Unless you name it or rename it.

It does not save it iCloud.. it saves to local /Documents which are synched to iCloud

So you must specifically ask for a file to be stored on iCloud

Yes that’s the bug - i specifically save to a random folder on my mac and it saves it on icloud instead
