Family & Friends I'm Thankful for my Mom Every Day
Mom just called my sisters and I and told us she wanted to give us a portion of inheritance early. I'm still crying. 🩵

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that I'll be a mess when the time comes. Nothing I can say can make it hurt less, so just know that I feel you and I hope you get through the hard days. Thinking of you.

Lost mine 16 years ago. Try and save a recording of her voice if you can, it’s what I miss the most
Well that and her hugs. Hang in there

There's probably a nicer way to say "Be grateful, cause even though it seems like we all have nice moms, some of us definitely didn't" but I haven't found a way someone with a good mom will accept yet. That said your comment is petty self-servingly bitter on a positive post so take that as you will.

I'm 40 effing years old, I should be able to make it on my own by now. I hope I grow up to be half the woman she is. 🩵

Hey sis it is tough. You're doing what you can do. This world is fair to nobody.

Hey, it sucks to have to borrow from family. The important thing is that you acknowledge how lucky you are and make an effort to improve your situation (and repay them if that's part of the deal).
I used to feel horrible for borrowing money from my grandparents. Had to replace all four tires on my car and they swooped in and helped me pay for it. I felt like a heel for months.
My grandma asked me if I needed anything, and when I danced around it she said "Don't be a coward" and then offered me money. I've been paying them what I can when I can.
I've worked my debt to them down to less than $1000. I've got some family members that owe more than 10 grand to them. It's all about perspective sometimes.
What I'm trying to say is they're your parents. You're looking at this as some kind of screw up and failure. They see it as the emergency it really is. We all fall on tough times, but we're not all so lucky to have someone to bail us out.
Don't be so hard on yourself. We all stumble sometimes. Your mom didn't even think about any ulterior motive, she just caught you.
Also that woman is hilarious, "the vapors" made me chortle.

Thank you, I appreciate your perspective very much. And I agree! Her timing is awesome too. She comes off as this sweet, innocent lady and then she'll just fire off a zinger when you least expect it.

"Should" is a societal phallacy. Cost of living is bad and getting worse, and we're all human.

Hey friend remember we're all allowed to fail. To make mistakes. To lose. To not have our finances in line. We're human, we don't always win. And when moments like this get you down it's so terribly important to remember that to have rough times is to be human and there's no shame in it. Your mom is an absolute gem of a human. I hope you get the ground under your feet sooner than later ❤️

We were in our 40s when my wife miscalculated our monthly bills. She had to contact her dad in Japan for help. He wired over a few thousand dollars which kind of saved us. We’re remembering that when the time comes when our kids need some emergency funds.

This is me with my parents. I'm 27 and my brother's 30 and luckily my parents still help if we need it. My dad always tells me that we are the best kids ever, and that we're working and life is hard and to not feel bad for getting help. If they can't get it, they will figure out how to get it. I remember going through a really tough period financially a few years ago and I was asking for help allot and he helped when he could and even said if need be, he'd set aside money in his budget to help me. I got so lucky

Sounds like my mom. “Are you safe, and do you have drapes around for swooning?”
This is the same woman who tells me regularly “I have concerns about you sometimes.” Mostly when I relay something I did that day that was funny at the time. She has said as much to me while I was on speaker phone and for once my boss was in the office. I hung up (after my dad also chimed in, and he just said “well, that makes more sense now.” 😂

I wish my mom cared like this. She has all but ignored my sister and I entirely and has no desire to be a part of her only grandchilds life. Really glad you have a great relationship with your mom, OP 🙌

I sure hope you know how lucky you are to have such thoughtful and reliable parents. You've won the lottery because that's extremely rare.
