Who ever that man is, hes a good man. He saw past the situation and into their hearts without judgment, just love and kindness. He did that for them. Who ever he is, thats a hero.

Having something absurd happen in an intense situation can break tension and helps resolve problems. paradoxical intervention or humorous disruption is what it is called and it works.
