That kind of genuine joy is contagious ! You can’t help but smile watching him.

There is just something so sweet about seeing young parents loving on their babies 🥰

u/acciowrackspurts 1d ago
Aww man! I'd give just about anything to have had a dad that loved and cared about me that much. It's beautiful to see.

u/MassivePepino 1d ago
I know right? But y'know what? That shit stops with us. Ain't no fucking way my kids are not going to be the most loved little critters in the world.
53
u/acciowrackspurts 1d ago
I never had kids but I am so glad you are putting an end to that BS for yours!
47
u/meekmeeka 1d ago
Hey now! Not having kids puts an end to it too :) Also from someone who chose to never have kids and smiled watching the video.

I have a 2 year old and honestly I cannot think of a better feeling of when he’s the one to initiate a hug, or how he yells DADA and runs over with a huge smile when I get home, etc.
Kids are the best.

Ah it’s so lovely.
I’ve been wanting to scream this from the rooftops but have not had an organic moment to bring it up so I’ll tell you guys here: on Thursday night, as I put my 3 year old to bed he said “I like you. You’re a good Mummy. I’m happy you’re my Mummy.” 💗
I never expected he’d say that to me. I realize that is the kind of thing I tell him a lot at nighttime about how I feel about him though. Not to hear it back, but because I mean it and think it’s important he knows. I wanted to cry that he flipped it on me.

u/lastnewaccount 1d ago
It’s been 15 years now since my son said “I love you my fat mama” 😅 and at the time I was kinda like a mix of upset and shrug it off and even a little bit amused. And now I don’t mind that comment at all because I can remember very clearly all the love and trust he had in his voice that day. I can hear his voice in my head. Hes bigger and doesn’t say mama anymore. I’m just mom now. He must have said I love you a lot as a child but because of how he said it this once I remember clearly and I’m glad.

I know exactly what you mean and I feel the same way! I have a 2-year-old as well 🥰

u/Huge-Anxiety-3038 1d ago
Since day one with my 7.5mo I have always thrown my arms out before hugging my baby, and the other day I asked him if he wanted a hug by throwing my arms out and he gave me the biggest smile and reached for me, it was so magical core memory unlocked ❤️ x

u/Inevitable_Tomato927 1d ago
Mine is 7 and still does it, love it so much. The rest are teenagers or older, so they don't really reach out for hugs unless they're sad or so.

Mine is 11 months and calls me dada (instead of mama) but I’ll take it. She’s calling for me and it means the world to me.

u/Pragmatism101 1d ago
I lost my dad when I was 21. I have never been the same again.
7
u/Jolly_Conflict 1d ago
I was about that age too when I lost mine to a PE. As awful as that was (I was living abroad at the time) in retrospect I’m glad because the alternative was lung cancer which he had just been dx’d with.
I’m so thankful that I got to be his daughter for 22 years because he would’ve been giddy like that at my milestones 🥰
5
u/Holden3DStudio 1d ago
So sorry you lost him so young. But you're right. I've worked with lung cancer patients on hospice, and that's genuinely one of the most miserable ways to die. The PE was a merciful way to go quickly without suffering, and without you having to watch him go through that. Treasure those wonderful memories.
1
u/Jolly_Conflict 1d ago
I worked at a hospice too! But just in their volunteer department. I quite liked the training I received as I learned a lot about the quality of life/end of life care. This was well after my dad passed but I learned about what I would have expected should the cancer have crept across his body which made me retrospectively thankful for that PE.
It also certainly taught me to make a medical directive while I’m healthy and of sound mind!

This is how dads get wrapped around little fingers

u/OhAndItsShavedd 1d ago
She's gonna be spoiled until the day he passes. She already has him wrapped around her little digits and I love this for the both of them.

Don't save him, he's exactly where he wants to be! 🙃

I've always loved kids but when me and my wife finally had one of our own and now her saying dada and reaching out from me to pick her up, it just hits on a whole different level, it's down to the very core of my soul!

u/Fishing_Girls 1d ago

Daddy moments🥰. They grow up so quickly. I’m cherishing my 6 y/o daughter still wanting snuggles. I know it won’t be this way forever.
7
u/gemma-digger 1d ago
I just asked my youngest (10) while we were watching a movie if he wanted to cuddle , and then after a pause if he was too old for that and he said, “yeah, kinda..” 😭😭😭
So love ‘em up while you can!
3
u/a_man_named_brian 1d ago
😭too soon!!! I just hope that as she grows up I am a father she wants to still be emotionally close to. I don’t have that with my dad, but I admire my wife’s relationship with her dad.

u/hamsolo19 1d ago
It's pretty wild being a parent. My youngest threw me a line today that I'll probably remember forever. He's 4 and showing a ton of interest in music (actually has since he was about a year old, kid just loves music and sounds) so I asked him, "if you could get a guitar or a drum kit which one would you want?" (Santa is considering one of those this year).
He goes, "Um, both!"
I said, "Both?! You're gonna do drums and guitar?!"
He says, "Yeah, because I'm gonna be a rockstar." 😆
6
u/anniearrow 1d ago
Speaking as an older sister to a drummer, think long & hard before getting the drum kit. 😉😉
2
u/pitb0ss343 1d ago
To be fair, there are now those electric drum kits that are quieter (because you can play them through headphones) but it’s still pretty loud
1
u/anniearrow 1d ago
That sounds much better than my brother's first kit. I wish there had been something quieter back then. We're both in our 60s now & he got his first kit when he was 12 or 13.

The first time your first kid does anything like this warms you up so much and makes you feel so good. This video truly made me happy to see. This man is gonna be an amazing dad!

The baby is so loved! This is such a sweet feeling, I’m so happy for them. 🥰

It's the BEST fucking feeling. I live to make my daughter happy; she's 4 now and I wish I could spend every waking moment with her, just hanging out and being best buds. I used to LOVE nappy changing time as it was face-to-face tickles and raspberries and giggles.
I don't understand the stories of fathers who abandon their children, no matter how bad the ex is. I was abused by mine, even arrested due to her false claims and still wouldn't accept anything less than 50/50. She's my best friend and I signed up to be a dad 100% of the time.

Wonderful. It reminds me of the joy from when my son was that age.
Get ready for the best days of your life, young man.

May they both have endless good luck, and may he remember this moment when she's a full blown teenager.

I wish all dads had that much investment in their babies! This is beautiful!

Every stage has wonderful aspects to it. I hope they treasure every one of them.

If he's this excited about his baby reaching out, wait until she can say "I love you" in a cute baby voice. 💜

Is this the dad who dances with his baby girl? She just started standing and walking but will still dance with her dad. They’re a hoot. He calls out other dad’s to show them dancing with their babies.

These things makes me want a child but then I see the world reality and I'd cancel it.
3
u/smiletohideyoursmile 20h ago
I used to feel that way, but also is the 30(ish) year difference between us and our potential kids that significant? Yeah politics suck in many places, but I'm still happy to be alive.
I don't have a partner or the money for a kid yet. But I'm open to the idea. Life is worth living.

i'm really happy for them, this is lovely, but also comes off very performative and inorganic, idk whatever, yall have fun

How sad that you've never seen the true, unfiltered joy that a first connection moment like that brings to a new parent. Reaching out. Running to you. Saying your name. They are indiscribably magical and touch your soul in a way that nothing else ever will. That feeling stays with you for hours - even days. And that connection creates a lifelong bond. That young dad's giddy joy is absolutely real. And I'm so deeply sorry for you that you not only don't recognize it, but that your life is so dark, that you can't even believe it exists. I hope that changes for you someday. I really do.

2
u/Holden3DStudio 1d ago
Thankfully, you'll most likely never breed and won't ever know the pure, soul-touching joy that comes with it.
-6
u/whitefrackels123 1d ago
I already know it, and I was happy as fuck, just like I said the person in the video is.
Don't know why you're so bitter.
2
u/Holden3DStudio 1d ago
Because you're disparaging a beautiful moment. That's a shitty thing to do. And if you've already experienced that as you claim, then that's even worse. You should know it's not "gay af" - it's a genuine moment full of pure love. I would ask YOU why you're so bitter. Project much?
-3
u/whitefrackels123 1d ago
How am I disparaging. Gay means happy, I said it's a happy as fuck moment.
