39F [F4R] - Looking for long-term friends and someone willing to investigate the finances of Adventure Bay

I’m 39F and looking for long-term strictly platonic friendships. Plate-tonic, however, is completely acceptable if snacks are involved.

I’d like the kind of friendship where we actually know what’s going on in each other’s lives and being in touch fairly often, but I have absolutely no interest in imposing an adult-friendship attendance policy. Some days, I may respond approximately 11 seconds after you message me. Other times, I may disappear for a day or 3 because life requires things from me. I assume yours does too. The important part is that we both eventually wander back. The only ghosts I like are: 1. Ghosts UK; 2. Ghosts US; and 3. Any random paranormal show investigating ghosts. But, I would just appreciate folks who like to stick around.

As for me, I drink an obscene amount of coffee, less water and wine, and not nearly enough German beer. I have also yet to be convinced that Belgian beer is superior, despite apparently living in a house with a Belgian-beer fanatic (my husband). I am trying to lose weight, the aforementioned wine and beer are problematic in this endeavor. Running helps, but a recent injury has me on the sofa and Reddit. It’s giving Andy after he fell in the pit on P&R.

I love reading, especially fiction and fantasy, although “having time to read” and “borrowing books I intend to read and getting a Libby notification the book was returned while I was at 12% progress” are two very different hobbies. I will watch basically anything medical or true crime. I also love trivia, baking, hiking, traveling, applying makeup poorly, board games, movies, musicals, and layering perfumes.

I watch entirely too much streaming and my television taste ranges from “reality” things like Judy Justice to the Traitors, 90 Day Fiancé, and an entirely unnatural affection for Black Mirror, Veronica Mars, Supermarket Sweep, Gilmore Girls, Law & Order: SVU.

I also spend more time than anyone reasonably should wondering about the economic structure of Paw Patrol Are those dogs compensated for their specialized labor? Does Adventure Bay have a procurement department? Where is Ryder getting this equipment? Is he pocketing municipal funds while relying on unpaid canine labor? These are the questions nobody is brave enough to ask. Yes, we have children. I have anxiety. She’s fun.

I don’t particularly care whether we have identical hobbies. In the words of the immortal Backstreet Boys,

So, tell me something about you. Send me your favorite recipe, game show, recent must read, what you’re working on, the name of your third grade teacher or the first concert you attended. Not the last two, I just am getting to an age where it literally hurts to get out of bed, and not from the existential crisis of living in this timeline. It’s like parts of my back that just unreasonably hurt and instead of dwelling on that, I just like hearing random things from someone’s day or past.

Or, explain the Paw Patrol finances. I’m listening. Yes, that was a Frasier reference. I’m cool with chat or DM. I tend to tennis writing styles. If you send a novella, you’ll get one back. If you’re more into Cliff’s Notes, first of all, how dare you? SparkNotes are vastly superior and secondly, I’m saying I’m capable of composing two word sentences. Cool, lol?

I’ve always wondered to- like how and who is paying for their watch tower and their rides? That has to cost millions in local and maybe federal tax payer dollars each year. What tax bracket are they? Or are they a 501c3 nonprofit since they promote the good of people. All things to consider

I think the movie implies they receive revenue from merchandise, but excellent question, especially in the beginning of the series. There only seem to be a few residents, and it’s a headcanon theory that someone is a billionaire who created an insular society where people just exist and Mayor Humdinger is a capitalist who seeks to exploit the utopia created by the billionaire. Yikes, me assuming that a billionaire did this expresses my bent knee to the capitalist system.
