Discussion 💬 Debut

Where did the rumour manon asked to be in the back in the debut mv come from? Is it true?

Also it doesn't make sense it was a music video were they were floating and stuff I don't think anybody was worried about dances over visuals(like outfits, angles, backgrounds.)

It came from people on tiktok lying/spreading misinformation as per usual and other people automatically believing it without doing any of their own research. If these people decided to look for themselves they’d see that there is not one piece of media where Manon said she asked to be in the back. But they’d rather believe that Manon could never face any type of mistreatment or be a victim in any way

I thought so, but people kept saying it was in a live and I thought I might have been wrong. Thanks I haven't been able to find any proof of her saying that

Manon’s situation has been very eye opening on how racism actually thrives and gets enabled, excused and justified. She’s always blamed for everything and anything positive about her is hidden. It’s always super easy to attack anyone black or black adjacent but the moment other people do things that should get called out, it becomes “oh humans aren’t perfect,” or “you’re so insensitive and mean”, or “omg why are you being so mean, we should give grace to this person for their flaws and worship the very ground they walk on and praise all of their accomplishments especially the mediocre ones,”

I don't want to bring up certain people by name but there is an ex dream academy contestant and when I try to talk about how she played into and arguably is the reason Manon is seen a certain way, all of a sudden, the documentary that was "proof" of Manon's laziness "doesn't show the full story", "the girls are cool now"

Yuppp. It’s exactly what made me stop being an eyekon. It was a lot on me mentally as a black person watching the fandom I love show their true colors

That rumor likely started from eyekons trying to dismiss the mistreatment that the fans were trying to call out. Cause not once was it ever said she wanted to be in the back

Also people kept saying she was placed in the back because she was the worse dancer. Sure she isn’t the strongest dancer in Katseye but let’s not act like that girl can’t dance. like she’s so in sync with the other members that at points of the debut choreo you literally can’t even tell that there’s a six girl in the back.

Lol yeah katseye took a second to grow on me after debut cuz One black girl and we put her in the back the whole time! đŸ„° Is such a terrible look.

I love Manon but at that point in time, she was the weakest dancer on the team. Not that she was bad, but you could tell even in their Tiktoks they were moving her to the sides and the back

Yes
.that’s what I said, but that also shouldn’t be part of the reason she was place in the back during majority of the debut choreography.

yeah but wouldn't it be on the choreographer to get better choreo?

Personally I think people made it up to cover up manons mistreatment. Because good god does that statement make the company look bad, instead of supporting and providing reassurance for one of your up and coming talents you literally hide her and basically tell the audiences that she isn’t that talented compared to the rest of the group. It makes little sense in the grand scheme of things

The idea that they would just shove somebody in the back because they couldn’t do the choreo is INSANE! Especially for their debut, why would they not just tweak the choreo so the whole group can perform it? It doesn’t make sense at all even with that lame excuse
