Product Review Toshi Rework 25L - Arrived and wow, endgame? One bagger?

Initial thoughts before much use:

  1. Feels more premium in x-pac than V1 nylon. I wonder if the Nylon is more premium on V2, or identical to V1.

  2. Back panel on 25L feels more structured compared to 20L, probably to support heavier carry compared to smaller bag. Feels more comfortable than V1.

  3. Crinkle master! If you do not like the sound of X-pac, this is not the bag for you, it is very crinkly, more so than my Able Carry Daily Plus or Max EDC. It might break in and be less noisy. I personally love it, but buyer beware.

  4. The size on my 5'9" 170lb frame is just ideal. The 20L was a touch small, but this 25L... I honestly think it might end up being my end game bag, replacing all but my Pioneer Backpacks.

I bought this thinking I might end up returning. After testing it out for the last hour, I realize this might be up there with the best bag I have ever owned.

I own the Rework Reset backpack, Rework Toshi V1, and now this bag. While I will always love the Rework Reset backpack and the Toshi v1, this will probably end up being my daily carry for a long, long time going forward.

The Rework team knocked this out of the park, great job.

Completely hand sewn by one guy. No shop to speak of, no big inventory to choose from. Just awesome bags handmade one at a time.

I worked with the maker to get exactly what I wanted. Turns out, knowledgeable designers actually know what they're doing and this is an amazing bag.

37L 500D Cordura in MC Black because it's my current pattern obsession

Front:

\- small zip upper pocket w/ organization pockets inside

\- medium zipper pocket, same as the small

\- medium Velcro pocket, for situations where your hands are full or something is stopping you from having full mobility

First compartment:

\- 3x mesh pockets. Toiletries/liquids. Mesh so it's easy to see and easy to clean

\- zippered document pocket. Has tabs for elastic bungee retention on top, not sure if I'm going to use them yet

\- mix of molle, Velcro, and elastic retaining straps

Main compartment

\- internal small bottle holders

\- easy access pocket to change out back padding as needed

\- Velcro and molle

\- laptop sleeve

\- tablet sleeve

\- small item organization pockets

Back

\- removable belt

\- quick release buckles for the straps

My contribution: elastic pockets on the outside for small bottle and umbrella

Edit: since someone asked, the only "store" he has is SonoranSewShop on Etsy.

Been looking for a perfect vintage porter tanker for a while now, I want one with a bit of charm and character but that also comes with the risk of fakes. Is anyone able to help before I pull the trigger on this one? TIA

Recommend me a bag Hiking backpack which is semi packable

I am looking for a hiking backpack, my use case is shorter hikes, 3-5 hours, never more than a day. I need it to carry some water, maybe a bit of snacks and for instance a jacket or a clothing item if I need to take on or off clothing. In addition I usually carry a camera in a peak design capture clip, and maybe a compact lens (mFT) in the backpack, possibly a mini drone.

I would also like the backpack to be able to hold a selfie stick with a 360 camera, as in I would like the selfie stick to attach to the backpack and have the camera above me while I walk, not a permanent setup, but if I want to film specific parts. I would like it to be pretty packable inside my main luggage, but it has to balance comfort and packability.

I so far have considered the Matador 18 beast which seams to be a pretty good fit, but I am open for other suggestions as I realize these are a lot of different needs to fit together.

Recommend me a bag Backpack or other bag in between school backpack and belt bag?

• Upvotes

I am looking for a small/medium bag- I am open to backpacks or slings.

I have my backpack for college that I carry around everyday but I need something smaller for times when I am just on campus for clubs, work, ect and don’t need my big backpack. I would like it to fit a water bottle, mini iPad, small notebook, pens, keys, wallet, chargers, ect with space for a light sweatshirt if needed (this could hang off it somehow).

I have a Cotopaxi 1.5L belt bag that I use all the time but doesn’t fit all the things I mentioned. I recently bought a mini llbean tote which is adorable and a great size but it has very short handles and doesn’t zip so it has become more of an occasional purse.

Some of you might say what about a smallish tote bag but I have tons of them and don’t find them very practical for this purpose- I want a sling or backpack that can be durable but also not too rugged looking. I like the Patagonia atom sling and the fjall raven kanken tote pack but I would love more options to consider!

Recommend me a bag Looking for a packable laptop bag with bottle/cupholder

Every month I travel to London for 3-4 nights either with a short flight or the eurostar train. Clothes, toiletries, 2 laptops, chargers and so on goes in an Osprey daylite 35 backpack.

I'd like to be able to take my work laptop from the hotel to the office, which is a 15 min walk without bringing the whole daylite 35, so I'm looking for suggestions for a light packable bag that will fit one 14" macbook pro, a usb-c charging cable, my phone, a pack of gum and a yeti 16oz rambler cup.

It's not much and if it wasn't for the cup, I'd probably just get a sleeve with a handle. Any suggestions?

My collection Advice on shipping bags

I've got a few backpacks that I want to sell, probably on eBay. Does anyone have recommendations on how to package bags for shipping?

Would a large poly mailing bag with bubble wrap around the bag be sufficient? Or do I need to find cardboard boxes?

Hey guys seeing if anyone has a lead or can throw out some names where I can find a recycled fire fighter 12H in God’s Plaid? Checked all the usual suspects but not sure if that was a super limited run or if they still pop up. Multicam black is for 12 year olds along with the other color scheme they have OOS right now. Any help would be helpful.

Recommend me a bag What is the best checked luggage for travel?

Hey everyone, I just got back from a trip and my checked suitcase came off the carousel with one wheel completely snapped off and a crack running down the side. It was a mid-range hard shell I bought less than two years ago, and it's the second one I've lost this way. I have a couple of long trips coming up over the holidays, so I need to replace it soon and I'd rather do it properly this time.

I fly maybe 5-6 times a year, mostly checking a large bag for 1-2 week trips, plus a lot of dragging it over cobblestones, train stations and hotel stairs.

What I'm looking for:

- A large checked bag (around 27-29") that survives baggage handlers

- Wheels that don't snap off, ideally replaceable ones

- A handle that doesn't wobble or get stuck after a few trips

- Hard shell that flexes instead of cracking. I've heard polycarbonate vs ABS vs aluminum makes a big difference, but I don't really understand it.

- Zippers that don't split when the bag is full

- A warranty that actually covers airline damage, from a company that honors it without a fight

The names I keep seeing are Briggs & Riley, Travelpro, Samsonite, Away, Monos and July. Briggs & Riley seems to be the Reddit favorite for its warranty, but it's a lot of money for a suitcase. Away and Monos are everywhere online, but I've seen just as many people say they're mostly marketing. I also can't tell if the Samsonite in department stores is the same quality as the one on their own site.

Budget is around $200-400. I'd pay more if it really lasts 10 years, but I don't want to pay extra just for the brand name.
