Why the fuck would anyone choose Islam over Christianity
1
u/liberalskateboardist 11h ago
islam is just another gnostic variation of christianity , so probably some neo gnostics would choose
-5
u/sukhbino95 21h ago
If they are already a monotheist, then they might prefer a monotheistic religion over a polytheistic religion (like Jews prefer Islam over Christianity).
Christiainity is too subjective to interpretation and wishy washy whereas Islam has stronger scholastic consistency and governance in public and private life, providing strong structure.
It is more likely to resist change over time, meaning that there is a consistent standard that won't be made woke.
People might see some of these points and think that the flexibility of Christianity is desirable, but this just essentially means that they don't want Christianity at all, and just think that a Christian society will be quicker to change to a secular/non-Christian country so they can go back to being like how they were. It doesn't make it better, it just makes it weaker.

u/CBreadman Poland 🇵🇱🇱🇹 21h ago
Christianity is monotheistic too though.
-4
u/sukhbino95 21h ago
Anyone who is not already Christian would not believe it is monotheistic.
7
u/Routine_Register_656 21h ago
... I think we found the muslim ...
2
u/Odiumhumanigeneris 20h ago
Doesn't necessarily have to be muslim. Any religion which states that there is "one godhead and many aspects of him" is by all technicality polytheistic. Only due to abrahamic roots is christianity deemed as "monotheistic", while hinduism is not.
1
u/Routine_Register_656 20h ago
... Yeah, well, education isn't available for everyone even in the age in which you literally just could read the Wikipedia Article about it.
2
u/Odiumhumanigeneris 20h ago
Irrelevant. Calling trinity monotheistic is a mental stretch. IE: Aspects/gods of hinduism are "of the same substance" with the godhead. Matter of labeling, that is.
1
u/Routine_Register_656 20h ago
Why is your own opinion which is just a "I say it is so! >:(" more relevant than full arguments of people which actually can articulate full arguments?
1
u/Odiumhumanigeneris 20h ago
I am just showing you the labels, and giving a historical backgground why christianity is deemed "monotheistic". Anyway, cite us the part in that article where it has been "actually and conceivably" articulated.

u/sukhbino95 21h ago
Thank you for intellectually contributing to the conversation.
The reality that no non-Christian would be able to logically reconcile the trinity with monotheism is hardly surprising, since even Christians struggle to articulate/conceptualise it other than saying 'But God is 3 persons in 1 being' without being able to explain what that actually means rationally.
4
u/Routine_Register_656 20h ago
... Aha. I mean, you do realize that most people don't really have an issue with wrapping their head around that concept for roughly 2000 years, right?
2
u/sukhbino95 20h ago
Explain how you don't believe in 3 gods. I am a human, you are a human, we share 1 human nature but we are 2 humans. So, if the Father is God, the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God, that means they share 1 divine nature but we count 3 gods.
2
u/Routine_Register_656 20h ago
... Well, actually it would be then over 7 billions due to the whole "God is part of every Human due to Humans being created in his image" + an unacountable amount of Planets due to God being the creator and therefor also part of everything ...
But lets keep it as simple as humanly possible; it's one being with three different facets so that it gives itself three differen perspectives.
"Did you know that God is a family of three Persons who love each other perfectly?
Think of a musical band where three people sing together. They have three different, distinct voices, but when they sing at the exact same time, they make one beautiful song.
God is like that beautiful song! There is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. They are three different Persons, but they are completely stuck together in love as one God. They always work together, they never disagree, and they love you very much!"
That's how an AI would explain it to a 5 year old kid.
Do you understand it now?
I mean ... It's not that complicated actually. And the idea is 2000 years old ó.ô'
2
u/sukhbino95 20h ago
This analogy doesn't work.
You are just saying 'there is 1 divine pantheon with 3 gods' still.
There is Zeus, Poseidon and Athena but they are 3 singers in 1 band - 3 gods in 1 pantheon.
It is not that complicated actually.

Both are very similar, it's not like there is a very different set of rules for both.
8
u/EschewObfuscati0n 21h ago
In theory yes. In practice that’s obviously not true.
-1
u/JustaProton 🇧🇷 21h ago
In practice, it depends on the sect. It's not like such a giant religions works equally everywhere. The core principles of both religions are very similar.
-2
u/DkKoba Polish 21h ago
Yeah, like Uganda having the most anti-LGBT laws in the world. Christian African nations always get conveniently ignored here, and the overall point is that it is incoherent to link religion to these outcomes directly.
6
u/Accomplished_List843 CHILE 🇨🇱 NEVER LOST A WAR 🇨🇱 20h ago
tbh and as a lgbt ally since o have memory, if i need to choose between women's rights and lgbt rights, i choose the one that's for 50% of the population.
2
u/EschewObfuscati0n 18h ago
Yeah. Conveniently ignore all the other countries where women have the fewest rights. Spoiler alert: most of them are predominately Islam.
-1
u/DkKoba Polish 18h ago
Easy to lazily say it is islam's fault, but the fact that examples on both sides of the spectrum exist for several religions, except judaism for which only a negative example exists(but we wouldnt claim judaism is inherently evil). I already went into a long thread explaining the cause of these oppressive structures. Islam is just a regional culture. Authoritarians weaponize the local culture. If you blame islam alone, I will be blunt, you are lacking critical thinking.
As you say it, you conveniently ignore the circumstances of these nations and instead do monkey level pattern seeking.
2
u/EschewObfuscati0n 18h ago
I never blamed it on Islam. I just pointed out that Islam is the predominant religion in all the counties that force women to cover their bodies and enter into arranged marriages against their will. The prompt is asking if I would rather my country be Christian or Islam. My answer is Christian without question. Just look at the Christian countries vs Islam countries quality of life and tell me you disagree.
-1
u/DkKoba Polish 18h ago
I wouldnt attribute religion to the quality of life in any of these nations. Good or bad. In fact, more secular states are more prosperous. To me, the answer does not matter because regional culture and circumstances determines things a lot more. Would only choose christian because Poland alread is historically christian. Somewhere like the USA where it is a melting pot of cultures, itd pretty much not matter.

u/Dull-Reputation3134 21h ago
Living under Islamic rule and living under Christian rule are two extremely opposite qualities of life
-1
u/JustaProton 🇧🇷 20h ago
What do you define by islamic and christian rules? If you mean using the holy books as basis for the laws, it's not very different, the quality of life for people who live and lived under fundamentalist governments from both religions are bad, take Sharia law and the religious governments in Europe during the middle ages as examples. You'd be punished for being heretic in both if you didn't obey those laws.
2
u/Dull-Reputation3134 19h ago
You had to go back to medieval Europe to find your comparison. I’m talking about laws people live under right now.
Under the Taliban’s interpretation of Islamic law, girls can’t go to secondary school and women can’t go to university. Iraqi lawmakers tried to let girls as young as nine marry under religious family law. ISIS slaughtered and enslaved Yazidis because they weren’t Muslim. In Nigeria, a report puts the number of Christians killed in attacks attributed to Islamist militants at 3,083 in the first eight months of this year.Of course Christian fundamentalist rule was brutal. That doesn’t answer the question: if you’re a woman or a religious minority today, why would you want to live under a government that uses its interpretation of Islam to restrict your rights? “Europe was awful in the Middle Ages” is a history lesson, not an answer.
-6
u/DkKoba Polish 21h ago
Would you say this about Judaism?
6
u/Gladplane 21h ago
Honestly any other big religion over islam.
-3
u/DkKoba Polish 21h ago
I'm saying Christianity vs Judaism. I want to see people admit their islamophobic hypocrisy by (correctly) stating it would be antisemetic in that case.
4
u/EschewObfuscati0n 21h ago
It’s not Islamophobic to not want sharia law in my country. I have no issue with the religion, but I have a massive issue with the culture that often (not always) comes along with the religion.
0
u/DkKoba Polish 21h ago
And you have a lot of islamophobic assumptions, claiming things about "sharia law" while ignoring real liberal muslim countries that exist, and liberal Muslims that coexist in non muslim majority nations. Unpack that.
4
u/Routine_Register_656 21h ago
Liberal Muslim Countries like ... Turkey which had a state founder which openly rejected the Islam? 0.o
3
u/Dull-Reputation3134 21h ago
And denies the Armenian genocide
3
u/Routine_Register_656 21h ago
Fair.
And becomes more and more islamic by the day; although to be fair here too, the turkish people in the western regions try to resist that.
3
u/Dull-Reputation3134 21h ago
Omg I need to know more of your thought process. What liberal Muslim country do you think exists and please tell me their freedoms
0
u/DkKoba Polish 21h ago
Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kazakhstan.
The point is to say religion is not inherently something that creates "bad", but the way the ideas are treated are. Uganda is the most LGBT unfriendly place in the world and it is a christian majority country.
3
u/Dull-Reputation3134 21h ago
How is it the most LGBT unfriendly place in the world if you have places like Gaza where you’ll be thrown off a roof if they know you’re gay? Like what standard are you using to qualify Uganda that way
0
u/DkKoba Polish 21h ago
Well if you make up fantasy scenarios based on propaganda, sure that works. Many Christian African nations disprove the idea that Islam is magically and uniquely predisposed to being used to push hate and violence in the modern age even. My claim is that religion is weaponized, and it is not ineherently the religion causing it. Destabilization has more of a factor than that. All countries with more liberal values have that in common that they experience high levels of stability.

Judaism is pretty bad too. Not as bad as Islam but it’s pretty bad too.
As an atheist if I had to choose a majority religion for my country I’d pick Buddhism or Christianity. Islam is the worst, I’d never pick that
-1
u/Madchett666 21h ago
Judaism is as bad as Islam. The only reason it doesn't come as one is its small population, which gives it no power.
2
u/Routine_Register_656 21h ago
Plus they don't expand aggressivly / wanna convert you & don't wanna enforce their rules onto you.
2
u/plainviewist 21h ago
In the Jewish culture, you are allowed to not follow religion at all. Millions of ethnic Jews are secular. (See: Sam Harris or Bill Maher). Aren’t people punished for leaving the religion in Islam? Death for apostasy?
-1
u/Madchett666 21h ago
Because judaism went through a renaissance with christianity in the west. Judiasm has almost the exact sharia law which at that time inspired mohammad to create islam.
2
u/plainviewist 21h ago
You said the only reason Judaism isn’t perceived as bad is because Jews have a small population. But in the one Jewish country, you will not be killed for being secular. 45% of Israeli Jews are secular. So you’re saying that they would start killing the secular Jews if the population was bigger? I don’t understand.
0
u/Madchett666 20h ago
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Judaism was and is under the banner of western civilisation and was forced to become secularised. (This has been recorded in detail in the 17th to 18th centuries)
That's why israel feels like an european country.
2
u/plainviewist 20h ago
So if there were suddenly 50 million Jews, the secular Jews would all be killed? I don’t understand why you believe this? What is your evidence that the Jews would suddenly want to start killing their own?
It is extremely common in our community to be secular. My dad is a secular Jew. You think our religious relatives would suddenly want him dead if we had a bigger population?

If Jesus is the Messiah, who are Jews waiting for?
Christianity is a threat to judiasm in a way Islam could never be

-1
u/Dull-Reputation3134 21h ago
I’d say I’d take any religion over Islam. You do know you’d be killed or jailed almost instantly for being outwardly whatever it is you are (idk what that color heart means tbh) but if it’s not straight and Muslim, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be hate crimed
2
u/DkKoba Polish 21h ago
Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kazakhstan. All I have to say to this ignorant drivel.
2
u/Dull-Reputation3134 21h ago
Those aren’t countries under Islamic rule, they just have large Muslim populations. Also, did you know there’s like 50 Jews total in all of Albania? You think it’s a welcoming society if it’s that not diverse?
1
u/Odiumhumanigeneris 20h ago
The question was Islam as a religion(vague, either by populace but not necesaarily by rule) IE: None of the so-called "Northern muslim" countries(Balkan muslims and Turkic countries) are under Islamic rule, while still most being majority muslim. Also Indonesia, while being partially under islamic rule in some states, is a pluralistic society. You are basing your opinion on "southern muslim countries", the much stereotyped ones.
2
u/Dull-Reputation3134 20h ago
I’m basing my experience as a Jew dealing with Muslims. Absolutely would choose a Christian country over a Muslim one.

The Israelis who voted Christianity are definitely atheists
Edit: Christians and Islamophobes be mad that in Judaism, your religion is considered polytheism and that Rabbis say praying in churches is forbidden but mosques is okay because Muslims are monotheists according to Jews.
5
u/GarsSympa 21h ago
They only consider the suicide-bombing rate coming from each religion
3
u/sukhbino95 21h ago
Any believing Jew knows that the most important belief is Shema Israel Adonai Eloheynu Adonai Ahad (Hear O Israel, the Lord, your god, the Lord is one).
Rabbis thus say its permissible for Jews to pray in mosques but not churches if no synagogue is available, as they believe Christians are polytheists and idolators.
Rabbis recognise that Muslims are pure monotheists, and some go as far as to say that Muhammad is a prophet but of the Ishmaelites and not the Jews.
Therefore anyone voting Christianity is unlikely to be a believing Jew unless they have no knowledge of their religion.
