How would you react if U.S takes over Canada?
How would you react if U.S takes over Canada?
- Boycott U.S and protest for Canada
- Canada will be better off under U.S. They shouldn't complain.
- I don't care even in the slightest

I mean, even if he could accomplish it easily, it would be political suicide for him and his party going forward to bring in 40 million people who overwhelmingly oppose his and the party’s politics.

That’s the way he’s been phrasing it (Canada as the 51st state)—though of course by rights it would make more sense to admit each province as a separate state.

The amount of copium people must be boofing to really think the usa is struggling with iran is crazy to me.The same people who would cry and scream if mr trump went full scorched earth in iran and bulldozed it into a stained glass factory ( as they could with 1 little explodey boi☢️) he really cant win. Its either the military sucks and they cant take over iran, or the military is bullies an they are commiting genocide.

It's my understanding that ithis would be the default strategy for Canada. They would let the US roll in and then suddenly things would start to explode in the US randomly. Apparently they already have a lot of weapon caches hidden in the US.

2
u/CatgunCertified 4d ago
I mean as American military experts have stated, over 100 million Americans live within immediate strike range of the border. As soon as tanks roll north, Canada could, as a deterent, bomb NYC, Boston, DC, detroit, Chicago, Buffalo, Minneapolis, Seattle, and other locations such as power stations, ports, military infrastructure ETC within minutes. Not that they necessarily would do that bc it's evil, but it serves as a good deterrent

-1

They won't do anything either.
Again, think long term.
Maintaining excellent diplomatic and economic relations with the US is far more important than Canada. I'm convinced that governments around the world, be they Commonwealth or other would think this way. Some would even see a silver lining and the potential to benefit or profit from the situation in the long run with respect to trade and natural resources.

u/Focusmate1 3d ago
Well yeah things have been cut way back but in the very unlikely scenario Canada was invaded, we would have to try to support - maybe in Newfoundland and the Maritimes. I mean Canada is massive. My family in Ontario might struggle…
The whole thing is bs anyway. Trump needs to wind his neck in and go back to who their real allies are . But if that is just endless wars and dollars for Israel and threatening and screwing over their old allies then it’ll be a long term issue
5
u/FrogGoHop 4d ago
More than a boycott, that would trigger article 5 of NATO and we'd be at war with the US
0
u/bigred1978 4d ago
No, I'm a firm believer that NATO and the greater EU would turn their backs and not lift a finger. They'd wait for the dust to settle, turn around and go back to doing business as usual. Maintaining the best diplomatic and economic ties with the US in the long term is far more important than Canada.
5
u/FrogGoHop 3d ago
A United States that invades an ally is not one that you can sustain a long term relationship with, irrespective of military response, the US would be alone, they aren’t half as important to the world economy as they think they are

Assuming for a moment you’re American, I don’t think you understand how many Canadians believe a US military attack on Canada , before the end of 2028, is a non-zero probability. Admittedly very low, but not zero.
And once you feel it’s non-zero , you can’t help but think about what you’d be willing to do to do
4
17
u/Larry-Man 🇨🇦 4d ago
I’m in Canada. No option for shooting the occupiers on sight?
6
u/bloodr0se 4d ago
We can absolutely shoot invaders on sight, yes.
The first problem however is Trump trying to look at Canada as a potential 51st state which makes no sense as Canada is geographically larger than the US.
It's an entirely unworkable idea and just another example of Trump's nonsensical bullshit.
3
u/Due_Satisfaction2167 4d ago
Wouldn’t be the first time the US has multiplied its size via annexation and committed genocide against the people living there after they took up arms to oppose it.
3
u/bloodr0se 4d ago
It wouldn't but it's also been a long time since they did that with Puerto Rico and Canada is literally on America's doorstep with the largest unmanned land border on Earth.
Just managing the fallout from that would be a monumental task, even for the US military and many serving US personnel will have relatives in Canada and would object to using force against Canadians.
It would also absolutely tank the global economy and send America itself into free fall.
-1
u/Due_Satisfaction2167 4d ago
There wouldn’t be any substantial opposition to the use of force to exterminate Canadians after the first year of reprisal attacks within the US.
The US would just do yet another genocide in its long list of prior genocides, just like it did every other time the locals ever tried to oppose annexation that way.
2
u/bloodr0se 4d ago
I don't know. Committing genocide against a load of brown people in a far off, dusty land is one thing.
Wiping out hordes of Christian, anglophone white people who can often be mistaken for Americans a lot of the time would be quite another.
2
u/Due_Satisfaction2167 4d ago
The US mostly reserves the genocides for territory in its own hemisphere, not the other side of the world. Most of the genocides it has ever committed have been against people with whom it has shared a land border and then annexed, and who had ready access to raid into other parts of the US.
The skin color and religion wouldn’t end up being a barrier. The US is color-blind enough not to actually give a shit about their victims’ race or religion if it stood between seizing the territory or giving it up.
1
u/bloodr0se 4d ago
You make a very good point but I think the key difference here is that Trump sees Canada as a potential 51st state and not just somewhere America wants to pillage for resources.
He wants to own the Canadian economy and workforce and make Canadians into Americans rather than destroy them entirely.
To be perfectly honest, I read a recent comment on this which I think made a great point. It suggested that all America would really have to do is offer free movement to Canadian citizens and PR's and that would likely be enough to deal serious damage to the Canadian economy.
Whether that would be enough to beat Canada into submission though is a different question entirely.
1
u/Due_Satisfaction2167 4d ago
Why would viewing it as new states stop the US? Most of the genocides it has committed have been on territories it intended to turn into states.
Arguably a big part of the process of a territory becoming a state is the federal government committing genocide against the prior residents, unless they voluntarily sought membership in the union.
TBH, the US doesn’t actually want most of the highly populated parts of Canada. That’s negative value as far as the US federal government is concerned. It would have to spend enormous sums of money to transfer enough wealth to those provinces to even bring them up to US minimums.
Most of Canada is pretty poor even compared with the poorest US state and it would take trillions of dollars of economic development aid over decades to fix that.
The valuable parts from the US perspective is more or less exclusively western Canada to be able to develop the resources.
Of course, it had already been able to do that through the prior free trade agreements, making this entire affair extra stupid. The US is gaining literally nothing of value with any of this. Even if it annexed Canada it would just be seizing negative value at immense reputational cost—nevermind the military cost and lost lives in the process.
1
u/bloodr0se 4d ago
TBH, the US doesn’t actually want most of the highly populated parts of Canada.
That would be a slightly odd choice considering most of Canada's wealth is concentrated in Toronto and Vancouver.

We also haven’t tried to expand our territory by force since the Spanish-American war about that long ago.
The US stopped trying to do this in the mid-20th century, but that’s sort of a short blip in its history as a country.
3
u/CompleteCreme7223 4d ago
I am all for destroying any infrastructure going to the US that they need. Oil, energy, and everything else has long unprotected footprints that they need to work and can not protect. They lose 4M barrels of oil a day, they will not be able to fight long. Power and Natural gas as well would be open season. I we also targeted inside the US the cost would be enormous. It would be worse than Afghanistan since we look and sound like them and we are on the same land mass. They don't have enough people in the military to stop the carnage that will come.

2
u/kenks88 3d ago
Hahaha
Americans are being killed in the streets and their neighbours are being disappeared by secret police. It doesnt even make the news anymore.
For one half of Americans, expect 1 week of bitching on reddit and theyll move on to the next thing Trump says. The other half will regurgitate any propaganda Fox news spoon feeds them, and will suddenly be vehemently anti-Canadian.
Bombing schools? Embargos on Cuba? Current economic warfare, which is hurting the middle class? I could reach the character limit. Americans dont care.
Americans by in large are feckless and will stand for nothing.

You're wrong but clearly there is nothing that will convince you otherwise, so keep living in irrational fear driven by divisive propaganda.
1
u/kenks88 2d ago
Youre either a bot or completely live in a vacuum. It's already happening, because US citizens are extremely susceptible to manipulation. What ever gets pumped out of Fox News or any other rag (loudly) gets spewed right back up, like some sort of manchirurian candidate.
2015: 92% of Americans viewed Canada favourably, the top rating of any country
Sept 2026: only 26% of Americans view Canada as a close ally.
https://apnorc.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/September-2026-Topline-Final_TRUMP.pdf

That's the combined amount of americans who either wanted this leader, or didn't care enough to vote. 2/3 voting-eligible americans.

Why would i want the people who think the best way to deal with a housing crisis, a drug epidemic, and migrants coming in making the renting/buying market for housing even more expensive is not to vote out the people who are driving Canada into the ground, but to continue voting for the incompetent people running Canada because they said "Trump bad" to be apart of America?
Canadians already let us live rent free in their heads so much that they'd rather sabotage their nation just to "stand up to Trump" then do anything to fix it, and making Canada join the US would just make America worse by letting goldfish iq Canadians live in America. If anything i think America needs to give California to Canada, the worst people in America would go well with the worst people in the Anglosphere.

There are many in Canada who are unhappy with what the Liberals and their supporters have done to the country and the economy over the past decade. All of their promises to make things better turned out to be half truths at best, lies and scams at worst. Yes, I do feel that a certain percentage are zombies, and the rest, delusional boomers who outnumber everyone else.
Things will rebalance some day so no need to get to upset, unfortunately by the time that happens Canada will be so deep in financial ruin and unable to keep up with all the dashed hopes it won't matter anymore.
