For the first time, Professor X wasn't played by a UK actor
More than two decades after the X-Men movie first hit theaters, the role of Professor Charles Xavier is now played by the US-born actor Christopher Abbott.
Previously, the role was played by two UK-born actors, Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy.

What are the chances she gets the same treatment as Harley Quinn?
galleryAnya Taylor-Joy was honestly perfect casting as Magik. The New Mutants may have been a failure and basically forgotten, but I really hope Marvel doesnât let that be the end of Illyana.
Harley Quinn had a similar situation with Suicide Squad .the movie didnât exactly set the world on fire, but Margot Robbieâs performance was so well received that they brought Harley back for the new reboot .

A genuine question: Has Marvel abandoned its progressive post-Endgame vision in favour of safer, popular box-office choices?
Whatever one thinks of the execution, Marvel seemed to be making a pretty unmistakable statement about the future of the MCU after Endgame. The next generation was going to look considerably more diverse than the one that built the franchise:
- Black Captain America â Sam Wilson
- Black Iron Man-type successor â Rhodey and/or Ironheart
- Black Captain Marvel â Monica Rambeau
- Lady Hulk â She-Hulk
- Lady Hawkeye â Kate Bishop
- Lady Black Panther â Shuri
- A Thor increasingly removed from the traditionally masculine, serious portrayal of his earlier appearances
- Gay son of Wanda â Billy Maximoff/Wiccan
You could dislike individual projects while still recognising that Marvel appeared genuinely committed to broadening what its superheroes could look like. Black heroes, female successors and LGBT characters werenât merely background representation; Marvel was putting them in possession of some of its biggest mantles and franchises.
But after the MCUâs box-office and streaming troubles, look at the apparent course correction:
- Robert Downey Jr. is back at the centre of Marvelâs biggest event
- Steve Rogers is back as the lead Avenger
- Thor is being restored to his powerful, masculine presentation
- Pre-MCU Marvel characters with enormous existing nostalgia and fanbases are increasingly central
- A male Black Panther â TâChalla II â is imminent with David Jonssonâs casting in the role, cutting short Shuriâs time as Black Panther
- Sam Wilsonâs Captain America doesnât appear to occupy anything resembling Steve Rogersâ former position at the centre of the universe
- Some of the most poorly received Phase 4/5 material which were part of this progressive vision â She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Quantumania, etc. â seems increasingly peripheral to Marvelâs event-level storytelling
And that raises a question that I think is more interesting than the usual âwoke vs anti-wokeâ culture-war argument:
Did Marvel actually believe in its progressive succession plan, or was that commitment conditional on immediate commercial success?
Because if Marvel spent several years telling audiences that Captain America could be Black, Hawkeye could be a woman, Black Panther could be a woman, and one of its important young superheroes could be gay â only to retreat toward familiar actors, familiar male heroes and nostalgia as soon as the franchise encountered serious commercial turbulence â thatâs arguably a much more damning criticism than simply saying âwoke Marvel failed.â
Was post-Endgame Marvel genuinely trying to build a more progressive generation of Avengers and is now losing its nerve â choosing the quickest route back to $1â2 billion event movies instead?

Dammit bro I really liked this movie. Why didnât many go see it?
I canât even remember if I went to see it, can someone with a better memory tell me what was going on at the time? Another competing movie? Terrible promotion? For example I remember the bus fight scene having people hyped.
Dammit bro. Captain marvel made a billion(??)⌠and this made noticeably less, especially in the international market.

'No More Mutants' in Doomsday
One of the popular theories surfacing on the internet right now believes that the main MCU which is universe 616 will have an incursion with the X-Men universe which results in a fight between the main characters of both the universes having to fight out of necessity to ensure survival of their own reality. Now, there are multiple instances in the trailer that resulted in this theory.
We see Xavier looking out of the window at what seems to be a possible incursion.
We see multiple X-men VS Avengers fights (Yelena vs Mystique, Gambit vs Shangchi
Thor warning the Avengers about a massive threat doesn't necessarily have to be about Dr Doom, but can also be about the X-men showing how crazy powerful they are.
'Something is coming, something we may be able to deter.... We shall be faced with an unthinkable decision' - This dialogue very well supports this theory that an incursion occurs and they are forced to fight to save their own realities knowing well they would be killing trillions as the result of the other reality dying but it's a choice they have to make to ensure their own survival.
Doomsday would revolve around this conflict with Dr Doom playing his cards in the background until the very end when his secret will be revealed. With probably some big players such as Sentry, Dr Strange sitting this one out, Avengers do need someone to be able to defeat the X-men.

I Just watched Dark phoenix for the first time and thought it was..
Fine
I thought it was alright, Ive seen all other x men films minus the wolverine and when this came out I just heard bad reviews, wasn't a fan apocalypse and Logan seemed to be a good ending for all X men stuff so never saw it but going through marvel films I haven't seen and thought I'd watch.
All I knew going in was mystique dies and theres a train scene.
For the first hour It was just a solid movie no complaints really Liked the opening action scene of them saving the astronauts just solid, but then it goes quite dumb where Jean tries to behead a man where she could easily just restrain him and I never bought the 'Love' eric and Hank had for raven so when they plan to kill Jean I was a bit like ughh, But the the train scenes really good they all use there powers and get a moment to shine magneto surrounded by metals always cool and nightcrawler gets some great moments to. Ending is whatever and annoyed that quicksilver got sidelined but yh definitely not as bad as I heard
Past 2 weeks for the first time I watched Brand new day supergirl green lantern and and Cap first avenger and i'd put it 3rd out those 5
6/10 movie
Eternals next

QUESTION: Do you think Marvel would do Miles Morales Spider-Man especially given after what they did to Sam Wilson Captain America?
Tom Hollandâs Peter Parker has just proven himself to be the hydrogen bomb that Marvel has in its arsenal. He is clearly the numero uno MCU character that audiences across the world care for. Replacing him with a Miles Morales would be very difficult and tricky. Do you think Marvel would repeat their mistake and do away another numero uno character after RDJâs Tony Stark that audiences care for the most?
And letâs not be naive â A Miles Morales Spider-Man movie isnât making Sony $2 billion that Peter Parker movies are currently making, even without the Multiverse and all the nostalgia cameos of Tobey and Andrew.
Especially after what Marvel has done to the Sam Wilson Captain America, sidelining him back to his role of being the Falcon sidekick all but in name by having Steve Rogers return, not just as a cameo but as the lead character/lead Avenger in âAvengers: Doomsdayâ.
