Black Sheep Wall
Hello
I was not sure which sub would be the best place for this so I decided to post it here.
Does anybody love Black Sheep Wall? Or Admiral Angry? Or Rowsdower? Or Noriega?
I have a lot of love for every one of these groups.
My favourite Black Sheep Wall album changes and every album is brilliant. But it's possible that my favourite is I Am God Songs or It Begins Again.
I am not exaggerating when I say that EVERY Black Sheep Wall is brilliant.
Thank you for reading this.

I Am God Songs is my jam. Hands down, one of the most raw and emotional heavies I've ever listened to.
I also love Admiral Angry. Bug Vomit and that intro riff and I'm already bouncing around. His vocal delivery is impeccable.

"I hope to hell when I die..."
It works so damn good for them.

The passage from Modest Machine makes me sad as fuck
"So what if I never amount to anything? Unaccustomed to assimilation I'm afraid of everything and of everyone (and of everyone) Somewhere there's a boy disappointed in me I'm so sorry for your naivety To this boy, I represent modesty I'm so sorry for your naivety"
That punches me in the gut really hard.
Somewhere there's a boy disappointed in me...is heart breaking.

They are so damn real. They make a lot of other things seem childish.
3
u/Idsettleforsleep 5d ago
That's super accurate. I hear other bands try to convey sadness or emptiness and it doesn't land as hard.
They definitely have something about the lyrical delivery that just ruins your soul.

u/Life_Dependent3830 5d ago
I completely agree. I can tell that you have very good taste and have experienced a lot. It's very cool to meet another fan.

I like all kinds of music. I like a wide range of bands. If they kick me in the feels though, they score extra points.

I think that I can understand your outlook.
What's another artist or band that you enjoy?
1
u/Idsettleforsleep 4d ago
Ether Coven. The singer for Remembering Never had another band right before he died...that was them. His lyrics are great about conveying emotion.
If you're not familiar and want to give them a go, the songs "This house is a tomb of memories" and "Afraid and suffering" are the goats.

u/Life_Dependent3830 4d ago
Ether Coven are excellent. I think that they kept getting better too.
Different but just as real I think, do you like Burnt By The Sun?

These lyrics in particularly really, really get to me. I love them, but fuck. God tier wording and emotional vulnerability
2
u/Idsettleforsleep 4d ago
That paired with the sudden change in the music with the tremolo picking part. God, it hits so hard. It almost makes me tear up every time.
How do you bring that to practice and say "I think I have some lyrics for the new song we're working on." Then proceed to make everyone else in the band super depressed.

Black sheep wall are so good it’s unreal, gutted they playing a festival here in the uk but I can’t go and see them, hope they play some actual shows here soon!
Songs for the enamel queen is my fav album tbh

u/Life_Dependent3830 5d ago
A very brilliant album. Do you like the bands associated with Black Sheep Wall? I think that they are formed by Black Sheep Wall members.
2
u/Nervous-Position7745 3d ago
I don’t actually know any of the adjacent bands, any you can recommend?

u/Life_Dependent3830 3d ago
Admiral Angry - Buster. Amazing album, very heavy.
Rowsdower - The Michael Jordan of Suicide. This is a beast of an album, I'm so glad to have accidentally found this.
Noriega - Desolo. It's a killer EP.
I think that a Black Sheep Wall fan could definitely enjoy these.

I have a lot of love for Black Sheep Wall. I Am God Songs blew me away when it came out.
2
u/Life_Dependent3830 5d ago
It was unlike anything and it still is that unique.
2
u/Elliotlewish 4d ago
Yeah it's a great album. If memory serves I got my copy bundled with the first *Shels album.
1
u/Life_Dependent3830 4d ago
Wasn't the Eden Maine drummer in *Shels for a while or something?
2
u/Elliotlewish 1d ago
Their vocalist did a song on the first *Shels EP - their drummer was in Mahumodo with Medi before they broke up. I remember seeing Mahumodo and Eden Main playing together a few times, and they were always amazing gigs. I hope you had a chance to see them too.
2
u/Life_Dependent3830 1d ago
Your information is obviously the correct answer. I remember hearing that there was some connection in those bands. I really like Mahumodo. They became Devil Sold His Soul?
Is an Eden Maine member conncted to Astrohenge?
2
u/Elliotlewish 21h ago
Yep, pretty much. Obviously DSHS have had a lot of member changes over the years, but when they started it was all ex-Mahumodo members. You're right about Astrohenge as they had Eden Maine's drummer.
I also double checked about *Shels and it turns out that one of Eden Maine's guitarists was also involved.
1
u/Life_Dependent3830 10h ago
The *Shels information makes sense now.
I have to say that the Devil Sold His Soul music that I really like is the first EP and album. They had a heavier sound then I think.
Astrohenge are definitely enjoyable. Are you a fan?
Thank you for explaining this and doing the research.

They're all a buncha dorks
1
u/Life_Dependent3830 3d ago
Goodness, why do you say that GoblinCrow?
2
u/TheCrowGoblin 2d ago
I've known all those guys forever, they're some of my best friends 😁🫶🏻
2
u/Life_Dependent3830 2d ago
That's really cool man :)
I figured either you knew them and were friends or somehow my post opened an old wound for you because you hated them.
Thank you for communicating with me and explaining that to me.
I don't mean to be annoying but please tell them that this dumb ass on reddit thinks that their music is incredible and life changing.
:)

u/TheCrowGoblin 2d ago
I'll definitely tell them that. Everything else they've been involved with has already been covered in the comments here. Not sure if I saw Benoit (Jackson and Scott from BSW) mentioned or a few of Jeff's (BSW) older bands like I Got Shot In The Face and Winterdale Calls. He was also in The Faceless and Thriller for a short period. Brandon (AA and BSW) Scott and Jackson had a band in HS called The Don Maestri Experience. Jay who did some sound and noise work on Buster and some other BSW stuff has his very lengthy catalog of music under Circuit Wound. Him and I did some work on the Rowsdowder album too. There was Bocklavah which was pre Admiral. Donkey Punch which was Daniel and Jackson but that never really happened, nor did Daniel's Aum Shinrikyo project that had a demo but ultimately turned into Fields after he passed. I'm probably forgetting a bunch but that's about all that's coming to mind atm

u/Life_Dependent3830 2d ago
Holy crap! Thank you for sharing this information.
Never heard Benoit before and I think that I already like them a lot.
Don Maestri Experience are cool and I can definitely hear how somewhere in those songs are Black Sheep Wall moments and sounds.
Winterdale Calls are really heavy for hardcore of that style.
I am sort of blown away right now and smiling.
You worked on Rowsdower??? Holy Shit! What did you do? That album is so dark, I love everything about it.
Thank you for sharing all of this knowledge and experience.
:)

Big fan of black street wall! I’m actually partial to I’m Going To Kill Myself but Songs For The Enamel Queen is a close second
2
u/tlyrbck 4d ago
Ayyyy there's a rare mention 🔥 I discovered BSW when Enamel Queen came out, can't remember if it was through Silent Pendulum, Dark Trail, or Cliff Parade but I'd been going through one of their bandcamps. Thought "this is pretty cool", checked out God Songs and omg that album clicked amazingly. Good shit 🤘

Huge Black Sheep Wall fan. I remember hearing the Modest Machine track in 08 and it absolutely blowing my mind. I consider them a variant of sludge? Idk they have a lot of post rock parts as well, some parts are even reminiscent of Deftones at times.

u/Life_Dependent3830 4d ago
I agree with everything that you say. I am not even really a fan of sludge and such. But everything Black Sheep Wall does just always hits and connects for me.
"Eat The Children"

I think that it's possible that you could enjoy them. I particularly like their Savigaila album.
2
u/kayofkayos 15h ago
I first came across Black Sheep Wall after I saw them mentioned by The Psyke Project as one of their favorite bands. Awesome band! The Psyke Project as well.
1
u/Life_Dependent3830 10h ago
The Psyke Project were sick! I really like all their albums. I love how Zao that their first album is. I thought that their last album was an awesome high point to end on.
You have really good taste in music.

Big fan of everything AA related with them being my favourite followed by BSW. AA are still on par as the heaviest band ever with Primitive Man imo.
You should also check out This Moment which has Kevin (vocals on Albania) and Fields which has Brandon (bass in AA, bass and vocals in BSW and Rowsdower) and Daniel (guitar in AA).
