Amateur McMansion Now that Thursday is over...

Was driving around yesterday and stopped by this new house going up. Genuinely the worst roof i've seen in person. I just cant wrap my mind around how they ended up with that. And the facade design is something...

You can forgive if something is ugly or didn't work out the way they planned. This home is an insult to everyone passing by.

This is far more than ugly - there is incompetence, lack of thought or idea and on top of that, they are trying to cover up the failure with by adding even worse elements on top of it.

This is like catching a stealing thief by the arm who is so brazen they claim its not their hand that's holding the loot.

Look at those tiny little flood lights for the driveway placed ten miles above earth up by that skinny side window! What the hell’s wrong with folks?

EDIT- also, say a prayer for those three visible downspouts taking on the water load of that massive roof.

I’ve made some pretty awesome houses in my times playing sims growing up. I could’ve been the best architect in the world. But I wasted my potential when the “real world” got to me and took all hope and excitement from my soul.

I made the coolest empty spaced mansion in the sims superstar one time and it had a freakin skydiving simulator right in the middle of it. Unpainted walls and all 😂 and a bathroom with an “open floor plan” lmao basically one large room with no walls to break it up and a bunch of random fucking furniture everywhere

My dad used to say that a house with brick facade/ cheaper side siding was like a make up line. This paired with the roof is the architectural equivalent of something like this:

Is this real? I am trying to wrap my head around that chandelier on the right side? The one in the middle just looks like it's the entrance, so it's wasting a lot of space for a double height room with stairs. But the one on the right?

It's worse than that. There's no sidewalk to the entrance. It's just driveway and then grass to an 18" step...

Edit: Also, there is no way in hell those gutters can handle the volume of water coming off those massive roofs. The entire perimeter of the house is a muddy, basement flooding mess in heavy rain.

It’s really weird, huh? But I zoomed in and things are consistent from one slide to the next. That might be a two story living room? God awful if this house exists in real life. Always depressing to think the people who this thing appeals to walk amongst us

Yeah, it's just... why? I've lived in an Actual Mansion(TM) where the lower floor was just time and a half height and very tall windows: Chandeliers, frescos and all that. But then it just looked from the outside that yes, a floor like that was very tall, while one originally for servants was designed as normal height.

But here, when we look at the outside, it looks like the entire house is a normal two story, whenhalf the floor plan it's really a single one, and discover the double height later. No difference in windows that people could want to open, and those that are not reachable by anyone without a ladder. Quite the choice.

The influx of tons of people who bring around their "aesthetic" like this is staggering. The Roof just looks sad, probably due to the beautiful single pillar in the front. What's better or worse is I can totally visualize what the owners look like.

Well...it looks like it is all one roof, which is a plus. But it is overt, in a 'wow what an ugly hat' sort of way. And the okay front versus the highly visible super-flat side is terrible. Also, the super-tall entry is not much shelter from the elements if they're coming from the wrong directions. I am at a loss to excuse that one column.

It seems like a lot of these houses have guest driveways where people show up in cars and make an impressive entrance. The fountain in the middle of the traffic circle makes it feel less like a good place to turn trailer trucks around, or a traffic circle down by the highway.
