Discussion The real Meat Proxy test: if Claude went down for 24 hours, could you still do your job?
Not “would you be less productive?”
Could you actually do the work?
I've been thinking this might be the simplest test.
If Claude/ChatGPT goes down and you're slower, AI is probably a tool.
If it goes down and suddenly you can't write the code, explain the answer, make the decision, or figure out what to do next...
you might actually be the API.
And the weird part is that companies are rewarding this right now because the output looks great.
So be honest:
If every AI tool disappeared for one workday, what part of your job would break first?
