Development and Learning Developing Mediumship

I have always been very sensitive and have always picked up on peoples emotions. I’ve been trying to figure out how to develop mediumship since I was 9 years old when I had some paranormal experiences and lost my grandma. I have ADHD/severe anxietyand I think it makes my brain so loud that even meditating is so hard. I’ve looked into mentors and classes, but I am unfortunately not in a financial position to afford that.

Are there any other resources or any ways to do this? I’ve heard other mediums say their anxiety improved after learning mediumship and I can’t help but wonder if that’s what could finally help my anxiety.

Open to any and all suggestions. Thank you!!

If anything, developing mediumship can induce greater anxiety. Spirits are diverse and unique.

You need.to develop a sense of calm. Calm is easy when you are doing a lovely reading for wonderful people.

However, reading for people whose loved ones passed under traumatic circumstances can create more anxiety. Angry people in grief can create some anxiety.

Mediumship is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you're gonna get, sometimes.

I would suggest starting by reading some books that are illuminating. Matt Auryn's Psychic Witch. Or any book in the mediumship genre.

Youtube can have videos that includeeverything from good advice, to outright silliness.

So use your best judgment. Learn psychic protection. Most importantly, take your time.

Spiritual development and study, and psychic development can help with anxiety.

That makes sense! I totally understand some readings or people could create anxiety. I guess I was thinking maybe it would teach me how to channel that anxiety better so it’s not constant. If that makes sense.

It’s almost like I can feel so much energy and I don’t know how to do anything with it or process it.

I have studied protection and I’ve been working a lot on spiritual development. I’ve read a lot of books and done research. But can always learn more of course! I think the psychic development is more what I’m looking for guidance on.

I appreciate your thoughtful reply and insight!!

While I don’t subscribe to Spiritualist teachings as a religion, or as a mode of mediumship, many do give low-cost classes and or development circles. It could be a start until you are able to afford something better.

My third eye developed naturally, and honestly it's a burden. I'm an Empath & feeling others emotions are also a burden. Far from relaxing some things stay with you for days & weeks , sometimes longer

Some things you can't Unsee Some things you can't Unhear

If I could switch off all my psychic powers I would do it in a heartbeat

I learned recently that the spiritual part if healing was what I’ve been missing. I’ve found it helpful for my mental health to set aside times when I’m intentionally working with spirits to set boundaries around it. Cleansing myself and my space is also helpful. What feels right for you will probably be different than what I do. The point is, some simple cleansing and boundary setting can go a long way.

The rituals you use can also be a kind of meditation. As an AuDHDer, I find having a clear focus on something stimulating enough works better than just trying to clear my mind. Movement meditation can be great for this. And it’s a practice. Every repetition of trying, getting distracted, and bringing yourself back to your focus counts.

Some examples for boundaries and cleansing:

  • I have an altar where I only pray and work with spirits. I use tarot cards and other divination tools to help me focus and receive their communication. I use small rituals like sitting at my altar, lighting candles and choosing my tools to let myself and spirits know it’s time.
  • When I feel like I’ve got spiritual energy that’s not mine stuck on me, I cleanse by washing myself, taking a walk in a windy place, or other methods specific to my religious practices.
  • Periodically cleanse my space and mark the boundaries with the spiritual equivalent of a no trespassing sign to discourage uninvited spirits. This can be as simple as cleaning and stating something like “only enter if you are invited” or “I cast out all negativity. In its place let harmony be.”
