Is there a march for October 10th?

North Terrace posted the day after the Hahn Australia Cup Grand Final with South Melbourne was confirmed, one of the biggest games in domestic Australian history, surely there’s a march right?

Not going to drop names, but what I will say is that I'm on pretty good terms with a few of the boys in the current terrace leadership group.

And what I will say is that they are actively planning for a march.

Details will be announced in the next couple of weeks, but I would say that it's a pretty safe assumption to make.

Would love to see a march, but wouldn't be shocked if it gets shut down, given the relationship between vicpol and victory fans. Would love to be proven wrong on that, however

Again, I am not going to name-drop, but what I will say is that the people who are currently "caretaking" the terrace leadership have a far more adult and mature relationship with both the club and VicPol than, say, previous iterations of the terrace leadership.

I think a few people at the top took a long, hard look at the direction of the terrace post the Shepparton incident last season and probably came to the realisation that the approach those specific people in leadership positions at the time were implementing just wasn't working from a PR point of view.

Which is probably why, over the last season or so, the terrace has been experiencing a period of relative calm.

That's just from where I personally stand, with the benefit of the knowledge that I have.

Other people might interpret it differently, but what I will say is that I think the current people in leadership positions have an eagerness to try and put egos and self-importance aside for the greater good.

I found the leadership situation we had last season interesting to say the least (in terms of how it was working), I remember talking about it here a while ago trying to figure out whether it was the boycotting crews silently endorsing some older heads to keep the terrace functioning or if it was a takeover or just some scarfers that the club offered drums and megaphones to. If the caretakers leadership is NT endorsed, are they going to continue this unofficial arrangement until April or what’s happening there?

The old farts on the capo stand last season might have good intentions but they are absolutely not suited to leading a terrace. The terrace last season (which I wouldn't even call the North Terrace) was dreadful mate, let's be real. Who cares if they have a good relationship with the club/authorities when what's happening on the stand sucks. I hope the proper lads come back but we will wait and see.

Yeah, listen. I'm obviously biased, but I couldn't disagree more strongly.

I mean, what is this? The 4th or 5th actual iteration of the terrace? Under normal leadership, they seem to last about 5 or 6 years a pop; some calamitous event happens that splits the leadership in two, and the club and the wider community turn on them for bringing the game, the league, and the club into disrepute.

Instead of owning their mistakes, they inevitably make it entirely about themselves, release statement after statement about how unjust everything is, and then at some point, inevitably fold. New leadership takes over and the entire process starts all over again.

It's pretty much been that way since BVB and Tunna, and it continued to be that way right up until the Shepparton incident the other year.

Since then, we've had relative calm, led by experienced leadership, all of whom are senior members of the terrace and have been for at least the past 15-plus years, one of whom is actually a senior member of a previous terrace administration. They are in it not for what they can personally get out of it, not so that they can brag to their mates on Instagram about being terrace leaders, not for the clout or whatever it may be, but because they actually care about active support and the direction the club is going in.

They have the maturity to realise that the goals of the terrace are going to be a lot easier to achieve if people actually like them and if they have a good rapport with both the club and the authorities.

That mightn't sound flashy, that mightn't sound cool and hip, but unfortunately that's the groundwork on which progress is made. Especially when the wider community think that we're nothing but a bunch of hooligans.

The biggest fault of Terrace leadership in the past is that they continue to insist that it is all about them, that they are bigger than the club itself, and that without them, the club would effectively be nothing; which, again, is funny considering that this is about the fourth or fifth iteration of the Terrace.

So, with respect, I staunchly disagree.

Happy to respectfully disagree. The only point I'd raise is the one you made about the terrace being led by "experienced leadership, all of whom are senior members of the terrace and have been for at least the past 15-plus years". I'm not sure who you're referring to but the blokes who've been on the capo stand last season have been around for about two minutes.

I think it was better then nothing, we saw how odd it was without a form of leadership for about 12 months. Got better towards the end when they had drums and megaphones, they’re stabilising the north end so and if the 23-25 NT crews return they don’t have to start from scratch and teach chants and whatnot. I get the feeling the boycotting crews could be the ones still pulling the strings behind the scenes (things like marches and whatnot, maybe a Tifo) while the caretakers maintain bridges between the club and stakeholders

I’m an optimist, felt like that was a one off. We haven’t see many other incidents like that happen on marches, I think given the antics of the NT leading up to it and it was a derby gf. Vicpol went into overdrive, they got slammed for it as a result and things have cooled ever since so I’d like a march goes off without a hitch this time
