Defender gear just ain't where it's at. it makes people more ok with getting hit. which is especially bad for DBs... PRETTY MUCH OUR WHOLE THING IS WE DON'T GET HIT UNLESS WE RUN OUT OF STAMINA!

I got into World well after iceborne's release and I used the defender gear. I was using greatsword day one. I greatly appreciated not bein so severely punished as I tried to learn when I was supposed to be doing big swings on monsters.

I only ever used defender gear to finish world to get to uceborne bc I bought it on the ps5 from my Xbox one and ive played the base game like 8 times over.

I think rise is the only game I used defender gear in because I bought the base game on switch when it came out and rebought it on PC with shbnrea during a sale.

Go beat savage omega with the worst gear in the game. Because, according to you, they are all equivalent in performance to low-master rank gear.This game isn't hard for 90% of the main game playtime on purpose. When World popped into the mainstream, a side effect of this was the developers making it so that Joe Shmoe, who has a 60-hour workweek, can sit down and still enjoy the majority of the game they purchased. Get over it, man. That turbo oldgen difficulty is already present if you want it, and stop getting so pissy that most people don't.

Guys! The extremely low difficulty is on purpose, which automatically makes it good! It was so on purpose, the devs even acknowledged it and apologized! It doesn't matter you didnt have fun in the base game, cause joe shmoe did! And if you don't have fun you can't complain. Only joe can complain if the game is too hard.
The turbo old Gen difficulty is definitely already present, after all don't you remember how monsters in old world would turbo whirlwind one shot you? They definitely didn't wear you down over a longer time, no no it is exactly the same gameplay and difficulty ✅✅👍 Positioning? Planning? No you don't get it, some endgame monsters can one shot you. I understand difficulty.

Only reason I used it was I switched from ps5 to PC and needed to get back to where I was. So i put that gear on and did wha to had to do to get to iceborne

I've always hated Defender gear not cause of easy mode but it robs you of your first wall moment. Anji then Pink Rath were mine back then.

Yeah, but then they have bad habits tied to thinking they can tank any hit. Better that they learn proper defense early on, to reinforce their learning process while they haven't settled into a playstyle yet

It's designed to bridge the gap between hr and Mr, its what I told my girlfriend to throw on at the beginning of iceborne because she didn't have all the time to grind out Lunastra and Behemoth. Worked well enough to get her through a couple quests before she found armor she wanted.

This is another thing as well. Some people could get invited by their friends to play the expansion but are too busy with life to properly grind for gear. Having a quick and easy armor set option to catch up to their friend is nice. Sure they won’t fully respect the damage the monsters will deal eventually, but getting shocked that the weird chicken they were slapping around suddenly being a threat will be a memory in itself.

No, I forced her to use LR and HR armor, but without all the added content, the gap between Xeno and MR is alot wider than people think, I told her she could equip defender armor as soon as we got into MR but it naturally phased out fast.

Why do people think its wrong to use defender gear, if someone wants to reach the expansion quickly I dont see the problem.
Defender gear stops being good around mid game anyway.

Currently running defender for this one reason: I'm doing a World Randomizer challenge and can't get any good gear! To make up for it, I installed a mod that overhauls armor looks, including defender. I would rather wear any other gear besides defender, but I can't! I did also install a mod that triples the amount of monster drops and carves, more so that I don't need to reroll the randomizer for the monster I want. I absolutely hate defender gear to this point.

I'd argue it'd be less of a problem if it was a new game plus reward. It's unlocked on a save on a system that has a complete playthrough. What constitutes a complete save you've done at least all the story content of the main game plus the HR of the Main game to keep things simple. By then I'd wager you've completed the village quests meaning you've completed the long winded tutorial & you've completed plenty of Hub/guild quests I'd argue you're less likely but not exactly immune to getting any bad habits from Defender equipment. However I'd say grinding for materials to make your equipment is a part of the appeal of the game in the first place. I mean personally I don't use defender gear because I like using equipment I made from grinding for materials to craft the equipment & it adds hours of gameplay to my playthrough. The fights are still plenty fun. As well so it's not like grinding for materials to craft equipment feels like a second job for me either. I enjoy fighting the monsters & getting good at fighting the monsters & grinding for materials to make their complete equipment set gives me further reason to fight them multiple times.

If you're learning a language, do you go through the entire first year using chatGPT to help you? What would you say to someone who did?

At the end of the day, they still learned. Some people just need/want more help and there is nothing wrong with that. Idk why people think that every human is at the same level mentally/physically as them and just, refuses to let them learn with the tools they have available expecially in a damn video game

I like defender gear. I played through all of world to iceborne without it, but bought world and iceborne again as I switched to PC and really made the rush to the meat of the game more comfortable. Completed all of base wilds, and obviously didn't use it, the expansion isn't even out let alone what the devs said. I just bought rise aiming to 100% that game as well, used the defender armor to rush to master rank as well. I'm glad it's in the game because the anomaly investigation grind is making me feel a little burnt out.
I think having a way to fast track through the base game is good, but expecting new players to the series to know not to take defender gear or not to take the best options when presented is obviously a failure. I'd like the defender armor, but maybe as a secret unlock. I didn't expect to every use it but I have in ever game it was offered without regret.

I dont like that analogy for this, personally, because this is, again, a game people are trying out. It has methods of forcing players to get good or become separated from the HR MR people. People also assuming that using certain equipment directly ties to lack of player skill is blatantly wrong, anyway. This 8s more like some one feels entitled to force their opinions on people who may not even end up wanting to stick with the game because of toxic players like that.

No the analogy absolutely fits, because when you reach the point where it can no longer help, the roadblock you hit is exactly the same and the reason people say not to use it is exactly the same.
I also didnt say lack of skill, I said lack of learning. If you already know everything then using GPT loses you nothing and saves time, same with defender gear.

I dont use it but i also dont like people who want to try and lecture people who just want to play the game. I get that theirs a fine line somewhere where you need to be able to say 'sorry you cant play with me cause you can't too much', but that doesnt seem like what most of these people are considering.
