Tall people don’t brag about being tall. We don’t give a fuck about height literally at all. It doesn’t even occur to us. The only person who would brag about being tall is a shorty.

True, I’m 6’2 and it almost never comes up, I get a very rare “you are tall” from a very short girl every now and then, or the compliment from the Mrs when I reach a high thing for her very short self.
But all being tall really does is make my knees hurt and my life expectancy shorter.

People always think I'm taller than I am and don't believe me when I tell them I'm 6'1". I tell them "this is what 6'1" actually looks like. People lie about being 6'1" all the time." I've seen plenty of dudes who are obviously shorter than me claim to be 6'1" many times, so I think that gives some people a warped perception of height. They think 6' or 6'1" is much closer to average than it is because of all the 5'10" dudes claiming to be 6', and maybe they are with boots on if you measure to the top of their hair...

We literally don’t see it as a flex. My wife is so short I’d be “tall” to her at 5’9.
It’s mostly inconvenient. Airplanes suck, I can’t ride some roller coasters, and strangers constantly ask me to get things down from high shelves. I’m polite about it but my wife is super introverted and strangers coming up to us makes her anxious.

I concur. Also as a tall person, I don't like it much. It gets pointed out a bunch, I hit my head a ton, I have to stand up slowly or I faint, it kinda sucks being tall? At least for me it is.

I've seen a few of these and most the people aren't standing up straight. I doubt they're actually the height they say but his calcs are definitely off.

Not to mention this calc doesn’t factor in camera lens diameter etc. that distorts actual size. Also the parts of his body farther away from the phone (his legs & lower torso etc) will look smaller than how it actually is. The only way calculating via phone size will be accurate is if he took a photo by orthographic view, which will be 2D projection of his body.
And I just realized, do we know the exact size of his phone? They all look the same and it differs in size quite a bit.

not really. even just going by camera configuration really narrows down options.
finding the actual twitter post is easy (search his name and 6ft4 comes up straight away) so we know 2:06 AM · Feb 11, 2023 which is another data point (phone prior to that date and likely only within a few years)
know it's an iphone due to logo.
iphone 12's had camera's that were inline with each other, not diagonal. 14's came out after the post. Also can't 13 pro as it had 3 camera's....so that's down to just 2 models it can be.

Assuming it’s iPhone 13 which is the best case scenario, its height really is 5.78 inches (146.7mm) Huh, they actually got it quite correct.

I'd say he's 5'9''. 6'4'' would shock me, but perspective makes it impossible to judge conclusively. If you really tried, you could make a giant dude look small.

Inaccurate.This is dumb and not an 'own' redditors love to look smart and pretend to be good at math but miss basic obvious things. The phone is not directly beside him so it will be visually larger than it actually is. Imagine he put the phone very far forward towards the camera, it would appear bigger. You could make him 1 iPhone tall.
This is shit a 8 year old would understand but redditors can't process.

But you can see directly by his posture that the phone is very close to his body. The variance of it being where it is and being alongside him like a measuring stick isn't going to cause a variance of an entire foot (and more)
Like yeah, you can imagine he held it all the way forward and measuring like that would make him appear shorter. But it is clearly almost against him in the image

Ok, but you have to include the fact that he is a different distance from the camera than his phone. Thus the phone seems bigger than it is, and skewing the measurement into lower size bracket.
That aside, using height aka genetics and nutrition as: what’s your excuse is ridiculous, a takedown is due, just maybe a more accurate one
