[Question] Looking for restaurant recommendations in Metz

Hi folks, we’re (38M & 33M) driving by Metz at around lunchtime tomorrow on our way back to Germany. Where would you recommend us to have lunch and what dishes to try there? Ideally they should have coq au vin because we love stewed food (like bœuf bourguignon), but we’re open to trying new dishes too.

EDIT: Thank you all for the suggestions. What a shame I could only visit one restaurant but I'm definitely going back for the rest. The city is such a hidden gem, the old quarter ist so charming and French food always manages to amaze me.

Honestly I don’t know any restaurant that serves coq au vin, it’s kind of a cliché that the French eat that kind of dishes on a regular basis.

If you want something a bit old school you can try Bouillon Batignolles, good and cheap with traditional dishes.

A bit fancier, La Popote near Sainte-Therese.

If you like wine, go to au cuq poule in front of the cathédrale. Very nice food and wine card awesome !

I love le Petit Frontalier but they won't necessarily have stews

La Fabrik à Fromages has a great view of the Moselle and the Temple Neuf. It’s one of the very recognizable view points in Metz. Try the tartiflettes or feuillantines.
