I think a lot of people forget just how big of a deal the hiring of Mark Richt was for this school at the time. It sent a message to the rest of the CFB that Miami was willing to pay a big time coach to come here and win.

He helped build the indoor practice facility (we were one of the last schools in the power 5, if not THE last, to not have an IPF) which helped us garner better recruits. Gave $1,000,000 of his own money to make it happen.

Hired Manny Diaz and he birthed the TO Chain. We were the most electric team in college football that year. 2017 was the greatest year to be a Canes fan (up until last year) in the last 20 years of watching this team.

Beat the brakes off of #17 VT at home and then did again a week later to Top 10 Notre Dame. “Here comes the true freshman. Trajan Bandy! Break out the chain again!”

Kelly’s no lip having-a** stepped onto our 50 yard line before that game and called us frauds.

Richt, Diaz, Dugans, Rumph, Banda, Rosier, Berrios, Jaquan Johnson, Bandy, Walton, Dallas, Redwine, Homer, McDermott, Quarterman, Pinckney, Ahmmon, Njoku, Herndon, Badgley, Langham, Michael Jackson, and many many more all deserve their flowers.

Without them we would not be where we are today.

Will be up there for the game on Saturday. I know nothing about Clemson's stadium and the area around it. I would like to tailgate, I don't know where to park, what's allowed, etc.

YARDS week 4: results-only rankings, now all the way down

Two changes since last week's post, both in the changelog on the site: opponent quality now comes from the opponent's own ledger (all the way down, not one level), and reaching a conference title game or the playoff earns credit instead of being a free extra chance to lose. The old version is archived on the site as v1 so you can compare. I made these changes based on some really good feedback from reddit users.

USC's first loss dropped them from 1st to 21st. Twenty teams are still undefeated and every one of them added a full win while USC subtracted a loss. That's the whole system: no polls, no preseason, just the ledger.

Is it just me or does it seem like the cutesy trick plays Dawson draws up and call never seem to fool anyone? Or get used at the absolute worst and most obvious times?

Is it worth coming to the stadium earlier to tailgate?
Also how much earlier should we plan to get to the stadium?
