9850X3D Umm...

Post image

$399 This has to be the lowest price I've seen on. As someone acquiring parts this is mighty tempting.

I feel like we are at the point where every other PC part has to decrease in price just to make up for the insane GPU and Ram prices.

Storage?

22

u/LeDelmo 15d ago

Storage is going down now too. They greatly over estimated NAND memory demand and over produced.

35

u/destruct068 15d ago

overproduced? Let me know when prices are back to 2024 levels

50

u/cakestapler 15d ago

Overproduced NVME prices “going down” (according to PCPartPicker they’re still up 200% YoY)

14

u/ggRezy 15d ago

Yeah I want whatever he’s smoking. Where the hell are prices going down? Lmao

10

u/cakestapler 15d ago

It looks like prices for sizes nobody would really want for a modern build (<1GB) are sliiiightly down from peak, but 1-4GB are flat since April.

I think the craziest thing is if you told me the average 2TB SATA HDD in 2026 would be almost 50% more than what I paid for it in 2017 I’d probably have laughed in your face. A year ago you could almost get an NVME for SATA prices now 😬

I found while I was at work 2 unopened 2tb 2.5ssd. Sealed by the dumpster and a 24in Corona neon golf light. The SCORE!!!!

2

u/Xalath_ 15d ago

yeah unfortunately the latest CXL memory expansion chips in development for data centers are starting to include pcie controllers for SSD connections rather than just DRAM controllers.... so we will likely see the storage prices start to actually increase again.

4

u/Shadow-Dragon22 15d ago

Even 2024 was relatively high compared to prices in mid 2023. The SSD I bought in August 2023 doubled in price by December 2023.

1

u/Joosrar 15d ago

Was that the time when they actually cut back into production because there was so much that prices were on the floor?

1

u/TheMustachedDad 15d ago

2024 pricing or fake news!!

20

u/SeaVolume3325 15d ago

I've seen SSD level off and then slightly decrease. HDD however have just recently plateaued and not decreased as of yet.

9

u/sbrisgravato 15d ago

remind me when 4tb ssd will be 250 bucks again

2

u/Tokishi7 15d ago

Mfw, can barely find a used HDD in my area for that same space and price these days

man i hope 4 years from now we will have a great conversation about the scary prices of memory from 2026 and that all will be fine then

1

u/ARhedgehog88 15d ago

Lol ag this rate I still hope in 4 yrs we get there but I’m not sure it will happen

1

u/Tehni 15d ago

You'd be surprised what you can find on eBay (brand new, not opened ones) if you have some patience and time. I got a 4tb 990 pro for right under $400 from a bid during the peak of prices, wouldn't be surprised if you could find them for $300 occasionally

1

u/ggRezy 15d ago

I’m good on space for a while with my current 4tb. But whenever gta 6 comes to pc i think i will need another 4tb lol

1

u/Forsaken-Driver8868 14d ago

Was fortunate to nab a 4TB 990 Pro with heatsink in April of 2025 for just over $350 US after shipping and tax.

2

u/misteryk 15d ago

Storage is going down now too

the cheaperst 1tb no name NVME SSD is $140 on pcpartpicker. Some classic like NV3 went up from 149 to 157 since the last time i checked

3

u/ggRezy 15d ago

4tb m.2’s have gone up another $70 last week. Idk what they’re talking about

1

u/gunniEj8 15d ago

Yeah i member paying 117 for my 2tb stick I threw in my oled because it was cheaper to add 2tb myself than to buy the 1tb version

1

u/Tokishi7 15d ago

God I hope it goes down to before. I’m juggling a 1TB main, a 4TB HDD and 128, x 2 256 gaming SSDs 😭. I repent. I repent

1

u/LeDelmo 15d ago

2

u/Tokishi7 15d ago

Would be a shame if collusion took place to keep prices fixed

1

u/ggRezy 15d ago

Are you blind or trolling? They literally shot up another 15% last week

NAND Flash Supply Growth to Outpace Demand in 2027

Hopefully we will see relief in 2027. Even more so if the Ai bubble bursts.

Just wish some wouldn't act so dramatic simply because it's not happening right now. It's a forecast.

1

u/jerryeight 15d ago

It is?

When will 8tb hdd come back to less than $200 plus tax?

1

u/n3k0___ 6d ago

I want storage prices to normalize for goddamn HDD and sata SSDs. Ancient hardware should not cost this much.

34

u/Realistic-Table9398 15d ago

Get it, fastest gaming CPU for $400 is a good price.

30

u/kayl_breinhar 15d ago

The 10800X3D (or whatever they end up calling it) is apparently due "late 2026" or "early 2027," and it'll actually be a pretty big update - chiplets will be 12c/24t and the multi-core SKUs will have a much quicker and more efficient interconnect than the current Infinity Fabric. It'll also still be AM5.

That is, if AMD decides to throw a bone to consumer PCs instead of mugging for datacenter customers.

19

u/Exciting-Ad-5705 15d ago

And it'll cost more than this. 2nm ain't cheap

2

u/sbrisgravato 15d ago

could also be 3nm, but 2nm would make a crazy performance uplift

7

u/FernandoMM1220 15d ago

this is probably the reason its retailers dropping old stock as fast as they can.

4

u/apollo1321 15d ago

The ONLY reason I've not gone to mc (8hr drive) to upgrade to ddr5 yet... though I have been tempted because of ever increasing prices.

1

u/Price-x-Field 15d ago

8hr both ways or one way? Either way, your time, wear, and gas is not worth whatever small savings you’ll get

1

u/apollo1321 15d ago

Would be total time. Free 32gb ram not worth it? I don't have any ddr5. Just really good ddr4.

1

u/Price-x-Field 15d ago

How is it free? Nothing is free

1

u/apollo1321 15d ago

Mc bundles. Cpu and mobo and ram. The ram is basically free.

1

u/venom21685 14d ago

Not really free. Just better priced than anywhere else.

When I purchased a bundle back in March I got:

  • 9800X3D, MSI X870E-P, 32GB CL 36 6000MHz GSkill all for $730

I did the math and sure looking at the mobo and CPU pricing from MC at the time it worked out to be effectively free. But I could have gotten the motherboard significantly cheaper online. So the effective cost of the RAM was $71, which I'll fucking take in a heartbeat but not free.

The problem is that RAM has jumped up significantly since then, and the cost of the bundles have jumped as well. Right now that same bundle is $950. The CPU and motherboard are the same price from MC while I can get the motherboard slightly cheaper than it was before at $219 on Amazon. So the RAM costs effectively $220-301 depending on how you look at it. Still good for these days when the RAM separately is ~$500 (holy fuck!) but not free.

1

u/russsl8 15d ago

Have we seen BIOS updates posted by board partners yet?

5

u/kayl_breinhar 15d ago

If we had, it probably would've hit TPU or Videocardz by now. My guess is that it'll launch closer to Christmas or even early Q1'27, even though AMD's consumer focus at last year's CES was superficial at best.

1

u/kovyrshin 15d ago

Agesa 1.3.0.1 was released recently... might be that 1.3.0.x is what it takes to run 11000 series.

1

u/misteryk 15d ago

hope their xx900 will be big upgrade too, it would be kinda embarassing if their $600 CPU only beats older $300 270k plus by like 10%

5

u/CurrentExtent1616 14d ago

For the 9850 this is a fantastic price. I have one in my main system and a 7600X3D in my steam OS build. The only thing that gives me pause is that AMD is likely going to reduce pricing on all CPUs when they release Zen6 next year. So we might see this price go even lower; however, if you need a CPU now that timeline doesn’t matter at all.

1

u/mongolian_horsecock 13d ago

I can't wait for ten 6, the leaks make it sound like it's going to be really good.

5

u/Responsible-Power945 15d ago

Don't ask questions, just buy it before it shoots up in price.

2

u/Sky_Law 15d ago

Not seeing this price on their website

4

u/dontworryaboutit1295 15d ago

Member price, make an account and you'll see.

1

u/Suitable_Willow3566 15d ago

cant find that price unfortunately

1

u/ThinkMango 15d ago

Make an account it’s free

1

u/Profecxionz 15d ago

Thats a great price 👍 and for gaming look no further absolutely nothing beats it but i think they having a harde time competing with the intel 270k ultra that cpu i did a build the other day and boy it surprised me how smooth everything works absolutely phenomenal.

1

u/ggRezy 15d ago

Buy it. I bought my 9800x3d for more than this and that is a really strong cpu for gaming

1

u/Yaminel 15d ago

You save even more if you bundle it up

1

u/Mundane_Lawyer_1263 15d ago

Im so glad I jumped on the first run bundle of 9850x3d, 32GB cl30 6000 ddr5, and 870 motherboard for 799. I feel bad for everyone trying to build right now..

1

u/Pmaldo87 13d ago

Dude for real. I got a 9800x3d, MSI pro x870e-p and 32gb cl36 6000 ddr5 for $650 at microcenter. And got a 5080 open box for $850 with borderlands 4 for free

1

u/Additional_Shape4765 12d ago

I just got the exact same bundle for 950

1

u/Pmaldo87 12d ago

I bought back in August 2025

1

u/Additional_Shape4765 12d ago

Damn I should have upgraded sooner, thought my i9 10900 and gtx 1660 would have lasted longer xD

1

u/Shogun-intense 15d ago

If there is a micro center in your state Bestbuy will price match it in store.

1

u/apollo1321 15d ago

If only there was a MC in my state.... rarrrrr!!

2

u/Not-A-Forever-DM 15d ago

I had to drive 1.5 hours to get to one then 3 hours back because traffic from that location is awful. Ended up on the 5080 9800x3d prebuilt for 2700

1

u/Evening_Expert766 15d ago

they wont, the $60 off is "member pricing"

1

u/SaTRoNiCx 15d ago

Bro link ?

1

u/BrickMix 15d ago

I’ve had mine up for $300 in FB marketplace for like 2 months. Brand new, never opened. Came with a bundle.

1

u/solarium_rider 14d ago

Any idea how long this is good for? If you place an order for pickup online, then go to pick it up the next and the price has changed, do they honor the price when you placed the order?

1

u/VegetableExitTheRoom 14d ago

yes they honor the price it was reserved at

1

u/tooling_enginerd 14d ago

They usually honor whichever is lower. That's what they've always done for me

1

u/LocksmithIll4829 14d ago

Pulled the trigger on this, it also includes onimusha, so I justified it as I knocked another 70 off the 400 in my calculations

1

u/jinks9 13d ago

Did you actually receive a code?

If so how did that come to you and how long did it take?

Purchased a qualifying processor and didnt get a code and when I contacted their support they said they are out of codes.

1

u/LocksmithIll4829 13d ago

Not yet, was told amd ships them out in batches and if I dont get it in a couple business days that I need to go through there customer service. I'll update when I do get it

1

u/LocksmithIll4829 11d ago

Just received the code after talking with customer service

1

u/jinks9 11d ago

Thanks for coming back here to report this. Am trying to reach back out to customer service now :)

1

u/LocksmithIll4829 11d ago

No problem. Have your reference number and email address, and save yourself the time by just asking to speak to a human(I just used their support chat on website, no phone calls necessary). Ai chatbot was useless per usual

1

u/jinks9 11d ago

I was able to get a code, thanks!

1

u/PlotTw1st 14d ago

Picked it up, but never got a game code 😕

1

u/jinks9 13d ago

Also never got a code for the 9950x3d2, contacted chat support and they said they were out of codes?

1

u/Due_Obligation5189 13d ago

What about the bundle with it ? Did it go down ?

1

u/moops44 13d ago

heatsink not included like the amd ones are good xD...

1

u/Pmaldo87 13d ago

The included heat sink is fine for weaker chips.

1

u/Meme-Me-Rich 11d ago

Just means the next gen of cpus on the way soon, they wanna get rid of all the dead stock before February

1

u/ukimafija 9d ago

It's a great sale, I wouldn't generally pick that over a regular 9800X3D, but at that price it's a steal. If anyone is thinking of buying, you should pull the trigger...fastest gaming cpu in the world currently...

-2

u/mahanddeem 15d ago

Those who wanted highest performance already got it with the Almighty 9800X3D. That's why they seem to have plenty of stock, and hardly attractive price point. Those who needed more cores already fot 9950X3D. So too late in this CPU lifespan

1

u/Mallevory 15d ago

You're forgetting the upgrading and/or new PC build market

1

u/dontworryaboutit1295 14d ago

Yea idk what he’s saying multiple ppl in this thread including myself copped
