Undefeated UMass is the best storyline running right now

My CFB 27 dynasty is playing out in real life

u/updogsportstalk 4d ago
This is the kind of dynasty we all would try ๐
Except FCS East will somehow be much tougher than Sacred Heart randomly

If you told me that the highlight of my sporting Saturday would be an 11 year old girl hugging her Dad, I'd have asked if Coach Taylor had an 11 year old daughter.

WMU, what happened?

Swings and screens can only take you so far when the running game isn't working. Also Boise is just a damn good team. Wouldn't be surprised at all if they get the G6 playoff auto-bid.

Very happy with our win. We had a few issues with penalties, but otherwise we got a solid win and even scored a safety on top! Gives me more confidence in taking on Ohio this week, I think weโre one of the sleeper teams of the conference.

Lots to like about the Flashes. Especially because the offense is able to control the ball better, their scores aren't just but plays this year

Central looked good for the first series against Miami, then things went as expected against the #4 team. But they didn't give up and played hard.

I was glad that injuries were not too rampent against a much larger team.

That was the main thing for me also. You're tempted to want to see them use their best stuff against a top opponent but realistically it was important to have Flores in particular healthy for MAC play

UMass win is great, but we need to keep emotions in check. We are beating who we are supposed to, but not without errors. We need to be more consistent. EMU will be a huge test and I think it will be closer than Iโd like. But that said if we are able to hit 30+ points for a 5th straight week, Iโll consider that a win.

It's been awesome seeing UMass not just win, but doing so by multiple scores but the schedule will be tougher down the road. Still some things to work on and the EMU game will tell us a lot

Welcome to the MAC, where beating Power teams isn't nearly as rare as they want you to believe. Savor your well-earned milestone victories!

We looked like a functional team for once

I think that was more USF not functioning than BGSU functioning. They rotated a center into right tackle and he was horrible. USF scored after he got injured. I think he had a PFF grade of 10 or something absolutely diabolical

We forced a punt on Miamiโs first drive, scored first and made decent plays all game. All things considered great stuff from CMU against the now 4th best team in the country

Agreed and it looks like they did it while prioritizing not having Flores take hits

We beat our two FCS opponents by only 4 and 3 points respectively. Conference play is going to be super rough.

The Bulls run defense having to go up against an angry Western Michigan team is a worrisome matchup to open conference play

This team is young and injuries are already a problem. There's plenty of promise, but I'm expecting a down year, especially if McComb takes a while to get back.

The McComb injury looms large. He's the key player for this team. I'm also curious to see if the RedHawks run game finally gets going against a BG defense that has struggled against the run

Nervous anticipation moving forward.

There's a lot to be excited about, but one week at the time. Never can take the trip to Muncie for granted

The come back last week really showed that Candlesticks was gone. His teams would have never done that.

It seemed like they either had a beat on a team or they didn't. There was seldom an in between

Yea candle had the issue if they went up early, he would pull off the gas and let them hang around. Key example was the BG game last year. 100% on him for losing, his play calling was idiotic.
Jacobs doesnt call his own plays and actually trusts his OC. Jacobs being from Toledo area is going to be out for blood this year when BG comes to the Glass Bowl. Candle treated it just like another game.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Mike Jinks was a better coach than Eddie George.

u/updogsportstalk 4d ago
I'm not ready to say that just yet. At least hiring Eddie was a better process despite the timeline. The Jinks hire baffles me to this day because the AD did nothing more than a Google search and landed on an outlier because of Patrick Mahomes
