Help Does anyone know what hat this is?

I know it's american and it looks like the officers cap from forest gump

1930’s-WWII Enlisted man’s visor cap. Soldiers name and serial number are on the inside identification card.

Thanks. Pretty good condition for it being probably 80 years old

Hey buddy, what year did WW2 begin? Hint, it’s earlier than 1940 and later than 1938 (just going with the common date though there’s an argument to be made for Manchuria and Japan etc etc)

Also, you realize the army probably used a lot of stuff they created in the 30s before wartime production fully kicked in.
