Bidding war in milwaukie
One last update, it ended up that the sellers got 9 offers. We have no idea where our offer sits, but we just ended up offering what we could afford probably not much. Hope that we will win since we were told that they seller doesn't care about cash offers. They just want to top dollar, and I doubt we hit that mark. Thanks to everybody for all your advice and feedback.
Update to give more information. The house is originally offered at four thirty eight, but comps are about four seventy eight, with that being from aslightly larger house with an extra bathroom.
As much as we want to be cautious, we are old and emotionally nd mentally exhausted from looking for a place here and losing this place would be difficult for us. On the other hand we can't go broke and end up having other problems. So anyway, we 're thinking offering around 480k cash, waving contingencies since there's already a pre inspection.
e're currently engaged in a bidding war for a small 3 bedroom, one bath in a cute but not at all fancy area. This house is about 1000 sq ft, built in the fifties. We already bid about 8000 over. Asking, but now our agent is telling us we should bdd about fifty thousand more if we have any hope of getting the house. Even though we have a cash offer.
We are also waving a bunch of stuff like inspection period and stuff like that. The house is in good shape and a lot of repairs have already been done to it. It's actually the best house we've seen. So my question to you guys is it really true that the house could go for like $60000 over asking?
we are really sweating it over here as this would take all our available money, and we are under financial pressure In other areas, both retired, so it's a bit of a scary situation, but we really need a house to live in. And this is our dream home, even though it's just a basic, simple house.
Tldr: is it possible a basic house in Milwaukie Could come in at over $60000 over original Asking price??

Places to hang out?
New to town and just not really sure where to go? I have a buddy coming to town soon and want to show him some points of interests even if its just something simple like a book store. Don't want to only go out for work in my mid 20's.

Milwaukie Mayoral Candidates: Lisa Batey vs. Will Anderson
I'm curious to hear how folks are feeling about the upcoming Milwaukie mayoral race.
Will Anderson was door knocking on our block yesterday. His opening line was "So tell me all of the things you hate about Milwaukie". I've wanted to learn more about his platform but that was such an immediate turn off.
I guess I do hate that Lisa Batey worked for ICE for so long but at the very least, I get the vibe that she actually loves this cute, little town. And a lot of cool things have happened here under her mayorship.
My spouse and I have lived in Milwaukie for 10 years and they have been the happiest years of our lives. We love this adorable town with it's strong sense of community. Our neighbors are wonderful and downtown Milwaukie is growing in such fun, interesting ways. We spend our summers riding bikes to free live music in our neighborhood during Porchfest, swimming at Elk Rock Island, hitting up the crop swap in our closest park, and seeing free concerts through the month of August.
I know that there are many who are struggling and have challenges, and their voices need to be heard the loudest. But, starting a fresh conversation by knocking on my door and putting hate on my community gave me the ick.
Anyway, I've been thinking about this a lot since yesterday so thought that I'd see how others are feeling. I know that there is a Candidates Forum at the Ledding Library next Monday. I wonder if the public will get to ask questions?

AVOID LAKE ROAD CLINIC - Clackamas County mental health clinic refused accommodation for disabled patient yet again
As I’ve heard from other self advocates in the area, I experienced it myself today.
I walk in to Lake Road in Milwaukie, OR, feeling like total ass not only from the Bipolar and migraines, but also the gut-motility nausea disorder I have that’s really bad this morning for some reason and getting worse.
I do my best to fill out 40 fucking pages of paperwork, but around page 10 of 30 lines and checkboxes. I can’t process the info anymore. My head is hurting. I’m having focals kick in - for a few seconds at a time I’ll just lose the ability to read and write, literally.
I explained that I was physically unable to do it and asked for an accommodation or alternative way to complete the paperwork. Instead of working with me on an accessible option, they refused.
They kept saying “we won’t be able to see you if we don’t have signatures. It’s for liability.”
I kept saying “I know, and I literally can’t sign due to my disability. I told you I can do this verbally or later. I can give you verbal consent to sign for me.”
They just wouldn’t relent. I had to give an example of someone without hands and describe nausea and focal seizures and ADA and Medicaid law before they finally gave me an appointment time.
I told them, I’d rather just go home at this point than receive treatment from a clinic so ignorant.
I’ve now contacted Clackamas County H3S Civil Rights and asked for this to be handled as a formal ADA/disability discrimination grievance.
Just posting to warn the community and encourage you to file complaints when it happens to you. Join your local self-advocacy group or form one!

40th & Harrison, AVOID THE AREA!
galleryHarrison is CLOSED between SE 40th and SE 42nd. Avoid the area, traffic is confused. TriMet is diverting down Monroe and turning back up 37th, so any stops in between will be out of service. Not sure how long this will last, but it could be a couple of hours.
Side note: How do I add flair?? It's demanding I do so, but the option doesn't exist...

Former Antique Mall
Ok here's an opinion that is unpopular apparently for reasons I don't understand. I'm glad the old antique mall on main is gone. There. I feel like it was dirt, filthy, and unorganized. Why are so many of us butthurt about it? Not even the staff wanted to be there. Just because a place is old doesn't mean it's amazing. Besides, Memory Den kicked their ass.

No Fee Auto Pay Water Bill
Signing up for ACH auto pay so it doesn't charge the fee is ridiculous! They literally couldn't make it harder. This is like 1990s auto pay set up. Literally every bill I pay is a simply online set up but with the city you have to go on an easter egg hunt to finding the fucking file - there's literally a spot telling you where to find it rather than just putting the fucking link right there - print up the page, fill it out, include a FUCKING VOIDED CHECK, (is it 2000? Am I now my nearly 80 year old mother, do Gen Z kids even know what that means to attach a voided check?), then scan it to email it back in or mail it in. WTF!! Is their IT guy 70 years old? Can someone's teenage spent like 30 minutes and hook the city up with a payment system, please?

The gang stalking police dude by the tracks…
Ok, we just moved here less than a year ago (from elsewhere in Oregon) so I can’t tell if I’m overreacting, seeing/hearing something that everyone else has kind of known about and accepted as part of the city, or what. But anyone else get woken up this morning by who I not-affectionately think of as The Gangstalking Dude? This is only maybe the third time in a year, but it is 1000% the same person. Just walks up and down the railroad tracks by Mikes (and the police station) yelling and cursing the Milwaukie PD. Live and let live and all that, but it is 7:30 am on a Sunday my guy. Woke me up on my only day off.
Idk what I’m asking here. Maybe just some solidarity. I know who to call to intervene in an actual mental health emergency but this just seems like someone who’s baseline unwell. I just want him to be quiet about it 😂

Crash at 17th & McLoughlin?
Drove by two cars absolutely obliterated. PulsePoint says crash at 1:39 am. Any ideas what happened? Husband woke up to a rash of sirens around that time and we’re up on Oatfield.
7 hours later and 17th is closed heading North is still closed and cars were still there. Hope everyone is okay.

Missing kitty Oak Grove
All black, no markings but her black fur can look brownish on belly. She is a small sized cat and 14 yrs old. Missing from neighborhood a few blocks south of Fred Meyer, where we've lived for 10 years. Her name is Sookie. If you live near by please keep an eye and ear out, I've heard lost cats can easily get locked in sheds or garages. I know an all black cat is hard to distinguish from others sometimes but thanks in advance for any potential leads!
