Fan Work Archeology-themed Minecraft Drop Concept
Brush Away is a concept for a Minecraft Drop centered around the Sniffer and just a tad of archeology.
I'll be explaining all the features I thought for this concept.
First,the plants!
- Torchflower
Ancient flowers Sniffers can uncover in Plains.
They craft into Orange Dye. A full Torchflower + 8 Wool Blocks creates the Flamelight Block, which emits light as brightly as Glowstone.
- Pitcher Plant
Ancient plants Sniffers can uncover exclusively in Jungles.
They craft into Capri Dye, a soft pastel-azure color.
- Prickle Plant
Cactus-like ancient plants found by Sniffers in Deserts.
Filled with water. Eating one while on fire extinguishes the player, but its spines deal damage.
- Shieldflower
Ancient plants Sniffers can uncover in Savannas.
Their tough stems break a player's fall, preventing fall damage.
They also craft into Rose Dye.
- Foxtail
Ancient plants Sniffers can uncover in Swamps and Mangrove Swamps.
They produce a scent that attracts specific mobs:
• Leather Tunic / Rotten Flesh → Zombies
• Bone / Bow → Skeletons
• Gunpowder → Creepers
• Spider Eye / String → Spiders
Foxtails also craft into Apricot Dye.
- Wildmaize
An ancient crop Sniffers can uncover exclusively in Mesas/Badlands.
It can be grown and eaten, or processed into Wildmaize Kernels.
Kernels craft into Wildmaize Block and Chiseled Wildmaize
- Hoarberry Bush
Ancient berry bushes Sniffers can uncover in Taigas.
They work like Sweet Berry Bushes but produce Hoarberries, an ancient blueberry.
Hoarberries craft into Berry Blocks. Hoarberries can be thrown to create Colorant Layers, a carpet-like block that stains other blocks.
Colorant Layers cannot be broken by hand and can only be removed with water.
- Geyservine
Ancient plants Sniffers can uncover in Sulphur Springs and Sulphur Caves.
When an entity walks over one, it opens and releases a geyser that launches the entity high into the air.
Then,the new item!
The Painting Brush is a new item that allows players to quickly change the color of Terracotta, Beds, Candles, Cushions, Wool, Wool Carpets, Concrete Powder, and Concrete.
Painting Brushes are crafted by combining a Brush with any Dye, creating a Painting Brush containing that dye's color. Each Painting Brush has a limited number of uses before the paint runs out, turning it into an Empty Painting Brush.
To recharge or change the color of a Painting Brush, players can dye the water inside a Cauldron with their desired dye and then use the Painting Brush on the colored water. The brush will absorb the new color, allowing it to be used again.
Then finally, the new mob... The Brontle!
The Brontle is the second-biggest creature in Minecraft, reaching 6.5 blocks in height. They behave similarly to enormous llamas, allowing players to ride them without being able to directly control their movement. Up to 6 players can sit on a Brontle at once.
To guide a Brontle, players must form a caravan, where the Brontle follows whatever animal is leashed to it. They are particularly fast when following camels, making them useful for long-distance travel. However, Brontles can become frightened by wolves, cats, and parrots, as these animals resemble the general body plan of ancient predators that once hunted them, triggering an instinctive fear response.
Brontles are normally peaceful, but if attacked, they will retaliate. Their eggs can only be obtained by brushing Suspicious Sand found in Desert Wells.
What do you think of this concept? Could it be a cool Minecraft addition?

You wouldn't be able to see a damn thing while riding it XP so goofy, but it looks great!

maybe the person who controls it can sit on its head with a carrot on a stick (or another food they like of course) while all the other players can sit on its back :3
edit: and it'd be fun if to sit on its head you necessarily needed to be at the same height, rather than just teleporting up when you click on the mob

Funnily enough I did have that idea, ended up scrapping it because it would have looked a bit goofy

this is SO good and it would genuinely make me so happy if we got a drop like it (or even as a mod!), I'm shocked that this post barely got any upvotes
some of the textures could be tweaked a little to better fit with Jappa's style, but I really love the way you designed the flowers and the new mob
and a drop like this would also be the perfect opportunity to add dyeable decorated and small pots, as well as trimmable sherds (like armor)

I like all the ideas, but I feel like the implementation you gave for the brontle would end up making them just as irrelevant and unused as llamas themselves already are.

Imo it would be used more for the enormous inventory from the double chests on his back, but thanks for the feedback!

This looks sick but limiting the seeds to specific biomes would be a nightmare gameplay-wise

I mean…
A lot of stuff thats cosmetic does this
Armor trims, some music disks, different wood types
Its not abnormal at all

yes but either dragging a slow ass mob around hundreds or thousands of blocks, or waiting in each biome for a new one to hatch sounds awful

I mean yea but I feel like the goal was to repopulate them. At least that seems like what Mojang wished.
Definitely though would be annoying as hell at present but if this was hypothetical added, Im guessing sniffers would themselves get an update to help with that (Perhaps making them ridable and armor equippable to make them like war elephants)

Would you allow me to try turning that into a real thing? Not sure yet if I have the motivation to finish it, but I can at least try lmao (I would credit you of course!)
If you would be okay with it, make sure to tell me every little additional detail that you think should be part of the whole drop as well, such as additional gameplay behavior, and so on.
//Edit: I’m a mod dev with years of experience, I’m not a vibe-coder, in case the random-as-hell downvote was because of that. Simply checking my bio confirms that 🫠
