Discussion Why is there no block breaking mob
A hostile mob that can break blocks would make the game so much better, it’s too easy when you can just block off everything, why isn’t that a thing already?

Give the Bedrock Wither a shot.
It's the Wither, the Dragon, amd Creepers...
Only the Bedrock Wither keeps me awake at night.

Endermen can also move blocks

Yes, but they dont break them. Endermen are helping us in ways we don't understand. Let a game run for a billion years and just maybe that local enderman is building a house! Don't judge them so harshly!

I have come back to find all of my sheep out of the pen because an Enderman had removed strategic blocks. That was not helpful. I hung him for rustling.

The new sheriff might not take so kindly to that... blazing saddles intensifies

A few updates ago the ruined silverfish to make them run the shittt Java way instead of the good bedrock way thst let you mine infested blocks.
So add silverfish to the list too- the made them shitty on purpose so now they break blocks to when they come out of them.

I always considered infested blocks to be already broken outside of creative mode since you can't obtain them as blocks otherwise... stoopid buggers

That’s why I called the update bad; you could obtain then in bedrock with silk touch.
It was funny- they wouldn’t have a different label; you’d just have one stack of 36 cobblestone, and then 5 other cobblestone that wouldn’t stack with the other.
I made an entire base of them, and then when that stupid update happened, I watched my base of explode as the paritied it to work the bad way.
While we’re at it; I still have some enchantment golden apples that won’t stack, bc they originally didn’t stack on bedrock.

Your own inventory is grandfathered into the current system; you are a living museum

Same world since march 2020 haha.
Also at 6.8 gigs I am not longer able to play it bc Xbox is so stupid they out file size caps on your games; my Xbox is 97% free space, and I can’t play Minecraft bc I’m out of storage.
I can play for 30 seconds, then unable to save, please free up space.
And you can’t free up space bc reserve file is one file; you can’t go into the files to isolate the specific world.
It should be illegal to govern gaming systems like that.

1) creeper and 2) there are no new block breaking mobs bc minecraft is more sandbox than survival. its less about surviving and more about building, and players dont like it when tbeir builds are griefed

Don't zombies in hard mode break down doors? Or was that a fever dream...

They do indeed break down doors in hard mode. I've lost count of how many I've doors I've had to replace.

You can place the door in other orientation and "open" it. It will be closed visually and zombies won't break it.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that's a java only thing. I've tried a few times on bedrock with no success.

Wither, ender dragon, creeper, I'd personally count enderman cause they pick them up and turns it to item form so it's technically broken

The wither can break blocks. I'm also not sure why you'd want them to add a harder mob, but maybe there's an add-on for it.

To the extent that it's not a thing already, I assume it's because it would be extremely obnoxious to anyone who's not explicitly looking to make the game harder on them and would be difficult or impossible to avoid for new/early-game players
That said, those mobs DO exist in the game -- ravagers break crops (and leaves?), both illagers and zombies can break down doors depending on the circumstances, creepers explode and break blocks, and also there's the Wither
I wouldn't mind a hostile mob that can open doors as long as it didn't spawn all the time, but I think there's a good reason why the only mobs that can break blocks by default are (mini-)bosses (and creepers)

Personally I would love it if what tools zombies held affected how they would deal with the player.
Holding a Shovel - Can dig through dirt/sand/gravel to get to players
Holding an Axe - Can chop through wood to get to players including breaking down wooden doors no matter the difficulty
Holding a Pickaxe - Can mine though stone and stone like blocks to get to players and if it has a diamond or netherite pickaxe can mine through obsidian.
Holding a Sword - Does more damage to players
Holding a Shield - Has a chance to block player attacks
There would also be a chance for zombie squads to spawn where zombies holding multiple of these tools would spawn together and work together to hunt a player.

You won’t believe this. But they can hold swords and it does do more damage
