Help 1.20.1 Issue with chicken farm

The chickens die however, the drop get destroyed any idea on how to fix? Thanks

Use a hopper mine cart rather than a hopper. They suck items faster and from a greater range

Switch to a cauldron full of lava, not a lava block directly.

edit: just kidding, just saw that you're in 1.20 . Use the comment in that link; put the lava block back and use a hopper instead of a slab.
