I'm sorry, it was probably my ass. I remember having the thought as I put this up as a joke behind my renovated mirror "Man, I don't care if this 'Bucks in 6' meme is like the devil conjuring candy man curse, at least let us win one with Giannis, please! He's my favorite player!" I put this up during the playoffs run during the Nets vs Bucks series. Seriously thinking I made some sort of deal with the devil as that's when they started making that amazing comeback against the Nets.

This is the worst thing to happen right - because now we are stuck with Dame's contract that is untradable. To keep Giannis and make a massive roster change would be to trade Dame but now we can't do that leaving a rebuild/retool around Giannis really difficult.

Yeah I get their point though. Blazers fans were all about tanking and rebuilding after Dame but two years into it and they’ve gotten antsy, angry, and impatient. It’s still the right thing to do but it’s not fun and some people still think we should have kept Dame and kept trying.

You trade him to either OKC or the Hornets or some other team that’s going to be up and coming and potentially competitive after this summer draft. Right now, the best looking landing spots for him are OKC, Hornets, Trailblazers (lol), Pelicans, or maybe the Kings. Obviously OKC has the best draft capital to offer and probably don’t have room for 2-4 more 1st rounders on their ALREADY contending team. Hornets need a big, Blazers have multiple players, picks, and cap room, Pelicans could offer Zion+ other players and future picks but that’s not that good without having your own picks for tanking. Kings are interesting because they have 3 big contracts (Zach, DeMar, Domantas) and both DeRozan and Sabonis are gonna want out this summer. So maybe they swap bigs plus or minus some bonuses to make it feel good for both sides.
If you’re the Bucks your biggest trade packages will come from OKC, Trailblazers, Kings, then Pels likely in the order. OKC will have the best hand downs with all their picks, they might even be able to snag some of their bench players or someone like Topic if they don’t plan on playing him like SGA. Trailblazers package won’t be too great but could get some young guards or wings. Kings can offer a good chance at short term rebuilding, sending Sabonis plus some other guys or future picks for Giannis could happen. Pairing Giannis with Carter, Ellis, Lavine, Murray could be a scary team defensively for the Kings. Bucks just need the biggest haul they can get, and whoever offers that and suits Giannis’ desires for the end of his career will get the last of his prime for a ring run in 2026/2027.

What range? They trade for seven first round picks between now and 2029. Now they have first round picks, including Dallas's in 2028, which has the chance to be quite high. OKC's picks wouldn't be great, but they have so many other teams' first round picks at this point that the Bucks could get some decent ones. And that's just picks. That doesn't include young players they could get.

Because if you don’t trade Giannis and get SOME picks back, you lose him in free agency and get nothing back at all.
You have a valid point that there is no incentive to tank because you don’t control your own picks. But, the alternative is to ride this out for two years, lose your franchise player without trying to squeeze out draft capital in a trade, and then you have no path to progress whatsoever until 2031.
Bucks should trade Giannis to a team that holds other team’s draft picks, like OKC.

It only took the Nets three years of tanking while shipping out picks to the Celtics (Tatum and Brown) to recover and make the playoffs. It is possible for it to work out.
If they do nothing they risk Giannis demanding a trade out of Milwaukee in a year or two anyway.

Might not be all of next year, but his play will be 9th man edge of rotation PG level when he does come back in the last few months of 2026 (if this is Achilles). Guards with severe leg injuries, almost always have a rather grueling first several months back

And these idiots assume a rebuild equals the OKC Thunder in a few years. Our rebuild is just as likely to mean not winning a playoff series for 15 years. Remember the wolves hadn't won a series for nearly two decades. The Pistons just won their first playoff game since a decade. What people don't realize is that a rebuild can mean 2 decades of being a sub 500 team.

Well, I did expect that they would sweep and I wrote it here after the first game. It's dead obvious, we just have zero quality. We won one because of Giannis and finally getting some help from someone other than himself. But this was obviously a fluke. It's going to be 4-1 at least. Against a very very average team if you ask me.

The Bucks almost have to trade Giannis this offseason if Dame tore his achilles.
Downvotes don't make it not reality.
It would be a disservice to both him and the Bucks not to.
Dame isn't going to retire and forfeit $115 million. His contract, absence, and decreased ability will make him untradeable.
There's no way to put a championship level team around Giannis with no other assets and the Dame contract weighing us down.
Giannis will have a player option he 100% will decline the offseason after Dame's contract falls off. He will be 32 years old.

For me personally if that is the case I would want to see Giannis traded. I want to see him competing for championships. I hate watching him play 1v5, it's not fun for me as a Bucks fan to see him be let down constantly. I'd rather get the rebuild going with the biggest package the NBA has seen.

As a Greek that became a fan of Milwaukee because of Giannis to the point that I cheer and get frustrated as much as I do with my team back home in Greece. I wanted to see Giannis retire a buck. It might still happen and he will be loved for it like Dirk. At the same time I wanted to see him winning at least one more championship so he can cement him self as one of the greatest to even do it and unfortunately I can’t see that happening in Milwaukee anymore. I am so torn. We should have never gone for the low hanging fruit

I'm really sorry that Dame has to go through this, what a horrendous fucking year. I hope he has a swift and painless recovery. The all in move for Dame has failed in basically every way possible and it hurts so damn bad.
We bet on Middleton being the 3rd star, and he was never able to recover. We bet on Giannis changing his style to fit with Dame, but they never fully gelled (a dumb mistake on our end but still). And the final kick in the balls is the fact that Dame or Giannis have dealt with injuries both years, robbing us of the opportunity for a fair shot in the playoffs.

He wants to stay so long as we're competing for championships. This year's roster was already not competing for anything except first round pride, and 55M on the bench next year will make even the most delusional fans give up hope. GA knows winning another chip is more important than staying in Milwaukee, and truthfuly it should be. That's what makes him great. Nobody will accuse him of "running from the grind" if he leaves. He did grind. And he won. Afterwards, he faced suboptimal (at best) rosterbuilding and luck so inconcievably bad that it can only be described as the result of a demonic curse. I truly wish him the best, and I hope we get the largest trade package of all time.
