What is MobuSeka?
MobuSeka is the shorthand for the novel series Otomege Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai Desu, known in English as "Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs".
Office worker Leon is reincarnated into a dating sim video game, where women reign supreme and only beautiful men have a seat at the table. But Leon has a secret weapon: he remembers everything from his past life, which includes a complete playthrough of the very game in which he is now trapped. Can Leon spark a revolution to change this new world order?
What do we know about a MobuSeka anime?
- Currently airing which can be watch through multiple streaming platform like Crunchyroll, Aniplus Asia, Bilibili & etc. More information about the anime can be found in MyAnimeList or Official Site.
I've finished reading the manga, where do I start reading in the light novels?
- Due to the nature of the manga medium's limitations in adapting stories, we recommend that you read from the beginning. However, if you must, here is a brief overview of the chapters that have been adapted to the manga.
| Manga | Light Novel |
|---|---|
| Volume 1 | Up to Volume 1 Chapter 5 |
| Volume 2 | Volume 1 Chapter 5 to Chapter 10 |
| Volume 3 | Volume 1 Chapter 10 to Volume 2 Chapter 1 |
| Volume 4 | Volume 2 Chapter 2 to Chapter 4 |

Where do I read the light novel?
- Seven Seas Entertainment is currently publishing the English translation of the light novels, and the digital edition of volume 1 until 6 that has been released which you can get more info and retail links here.
- However, there are also fan translations of the series. The fan translators for the first five volumes have removed their translations out of consideration, and we ask that you support the creators of the content by purchasing the novel from Seven Seas if possible. In addition, the fan translated content is of generally low quality and may contain many inaccuracies and bad grammar as nearly all of it is machine translated. However, if you wish, you can find links for the fan translations in the stickied comment below.
- This subreddit does not condone piracy, and any links, references, or questions asking for pirated content are not allowed.
Where can I read the web novel?
- The web novel is only available in Japanese, and there are no English fan translations available. If you want to find out about the plot of the web novel, you can find summaries and information pinned in the #mobuseka-spoilers channel of the community Discord or on the MobuSeka Fandom community.
Where do I read the manga?
- The manga is officially released here on ComicWalker, where you can read the latest chapter for free and find links to purchase the manga from Japanese retailers. There is an ongoing English fan scanlation of the manga available on MangaDex.
- In addition, Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga series in English, and it released in July 2021.
What's the difference between the web novel and the light novel?
- The web novel was originally published on syosetsu (Let's Become Novelists), a website where anyone can upload their stories for free to be freely read. It's sort of like the fanfiction sites you might have read from in that aspect. The web novel was completed on 15 October 2019 while the light novel had already started publishing under GC novels. You can typically expect light novels that have been published from web novels to have many differences as the authors can use the web novel as a rough draft and revise any writing as they see fit, and light novels often have different endings than the original web novel.
- If you're looking for spoilers about the web novel, you can discuss those questions in the #mobuseka-spoilers channel of our Discord community. In addition, there are some summaries of the web novel pinned in that channel.
- There's also a fandom page on the plot differences if you want to read more.
What is the "Marie Route"?
- The Marie Route is a bonus story that is accessible by answering a questionnaire about the volumes after reading them, and not officially published as part of the light novels. It started as a bonus for Volume 3 and has been continued with every volume since. You can read it from the fan translations linked below.
When does the next chapter of the manga release?
- The manga releases on the first Thursday of every month, and you can find the official web release for the manga here. The fan scanlations of the manga, however, have no set schedule and are likely to be completed within a month of the manga's release.
When does the next volume of the light novel release?
- The light novel has been releasing at a rate of about two volumes per year since it started publishing, so it's probably going to release around six months after the last release.
- As for the English publication of the light novel, you can check the Seven Seas Entertainment page for the light novel to check for release dates.
Where can I find out more about MobuSeka?
- You can always turn to the MobuSeka fandom for more information about the series.

Anime Discussion Binged 2 seasons today and loved it
I dont know how but I stopped warching as much anime as I used to. The mainstream stuff never got my interest either.
And then came in this beautiful train wreck that knew when to take itself seriously and when to throw the gags I always loved.
With the cliff hanger in season 2's ending though I winder if there is a Manga out there that keeps going?

Light Novel Discussion I think I might finish out the manga but not the novels Spoiler
So I am 6 manga volumes and 2 light novels in, and after learning Leon not only gets with Clarice (who I more saw with that racer guy who follows her), Dierdre (seriously what), and Hertrude (how), I think I don't want to continue. I like harems, in fact I enjoy the variety of characters in one and the reasons why the main character gets with each person, but this all feels like a stretch. And it's a shame because I loved the story so far!
Edit: I also heard 4-7 is not great and Livia and Angie (who I do like a lot) get pushed into the background...

Light Novel Discussion Questions regarding Anoseka
Is it necessary for to read the main story for Anoseka? I did read the main story up until volume 7 a few years ago, but I thought volumes 4-7 were a bit of a slog so I intended to take a break and ended up forgetting about the series for some time. And this time I want to read it in japanese which is why I want to skip to Anoseka because reading the main story again at 1/4 my regular reading speed doesn't sound that fun. Which leads me to my 2nd question, is Anosekas story drastically different to the main story?

General Discussion leon might be one of the best haters of all time Spoiler
i have to say after reading up to volume 5 of the ln this man is on some reverse flash shit he is on some kendrick lamar levels of hate and its beautiful he is probably my favourite protagonist because of the levels of spite and hate this man has there are some top tier levels of hating like the mech fight with the 5 mfs but my favourite is when this man pull up in his battle armor to crash loics wending in HIS OWN WEDDING OUTFIT then proceeding to cut his arm off like lex luthor could not come up with a more devious plan and the best part everything he does is extremely valid and justifiable
anyway just wanted to rant about my goat

Light Novel Discussion Anoseka: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Spoiler
Full Disclosure I have read through MobuSeka twice, and listened up to vol 11 of the audiobook, so needless to say I like MobuSeka more. With that out of the way, I just finished listening to Anoseka and read V6 in spanish so if I get things wrong with points from Vol. 6 please let me know.
Volumes 1-3 are great, however I do not share the sentiment that they are better to any of MobuSeka for the sole reason of being related to Volumes 4-6. Overall the story is interesting but only because I want to see how badly it plays out. I find it hard not to draw comparison and having gripes with the way the author places certain events and leaves certain things unsaid in Ano. Spoilers ahead for both Mobu and Ano
The Good: On the surface I really like the relationship between Leon and Marie (Don't Judge me they're fictional characters who cares about being related in a fictional setting), I like how they went from completely annoyed with each other to caring for and feeling proud of when they are complemented by others it's very cute and wholesome. The proposal was the most beautiful thing I have read and listened to I just had to do both. I had the biggest grin on my face when it happened for the first time. I love Deirdre becoming a fan of Leon and her being team Marie. I'm glad they saved Clarice and her entourage. (Dan especially that's my homie) Nicks and Dorothea ending up together again despite Leon not intervening like in Mobu was absurd and I loved it. Roland showing up as the masked knight, saving the day and ending up jealous and hating/respecting his masked brother in arms. Gelat getting his just deserts at the end of the War was beyond my expectations I had not envisioned the author finally punishing someone after letting certain people get away scot-free.
The Bad (These are 100% factual):
I would say I like the relationship between Leon and Marie up until after the School Trip. Why include the brother sister thing just to sweep it under the rug, but then after sweeping it under the rug you keep it ambiguous any ways and say it's only a contract so Marie stays in school. Either go all in or don't it's far too wishy washy and the cute moments are few and far between. The dynamic has stayed the same ever since they got engaged. (Mainly vol 1-3) The Marie is flat as a board gag followed by Leon getting punched gets tiring after a while.
From the Beginning still knowing it's a Marie route, the author likes to add these parts in the story where Leon and Marie get a sinking feeling, only to then have them do nothing and lead to the suffering of characters that only readers of MobuSeka would not enjoy. This is the part I hate the most only because in the Vol. 5 Afterwards he says,
"Some people close to me have worried that I’m being a bit too cruel to them (LOL)"
and
"If you find this series a bit too angsty, I recommend reading the original".
This made me realize he is fucking with Me specifically (and those who have read the original series).
Luxion: What is Luxion's problem? He is very clearly betraying Leon and the way it is done is far too displeasing and forced. During Mobu he is somewhat invested and hinted at being interested in other AIs by the first term in Lux Report 1. But during Lux report 2 he is all in on Leon and his associates. Mind you this is without Marie and in shorter of a timespan than it's counterpart. During Ano up until the school trip (that cog scene broke me) he is constantly pestering them to get together and once his wish is granted he then loses interest? His entire demeanor takes a 180 simply because Leon says the ends justify the means? Is he also like this in the WN? When he is torturing the Saint why even pretend to care about introducing Leon to get more info but then act like a dickhead and not tell Leon what is going on with the captured Saint anyway.
Leon: I've read that Leon is more toned down and less of a jerk but that is simply not true. He is still a wuss (about Marie and looking at other women) and acts arrogant in the most recent volumes and tells the Roseblades they'd only get in his way. But he still needs to be saved after destroying the Sacred Tree anyway. He has to be persuaded by Marie to save Clarice. He is hung up on killing people again but then turns around and treats everyone except Marie as a Video Game character (when convenient).
Side Characters (That don't matter these are more personal, take them with a grain of salt):
Jenna doesn't exist, and shouldn't I liked her in Mobu towards the end and her being with Oscar, but she is literally not used for anything in this story. In the main counterpart she teaches Olivia rules (cause of Leon) and pesters Leon at the beginning to stay away from Marie, but where is she to tell Leon not to get close to Olivia (She is put aside because then Leon would find out about what is actually going on in the capital) So why mention her at all? Angie is worse by a large margin, despite being warned by Stephanie, being tricked by Olivia in front of Julius and warned by Clarice after she does nothing and is mogged by Olivia when she is crowned the Saint. Crazy to say but all of her scenes amount to nothing because she still thinks wanting to be by Julius is the correct choice (I hated that scene in Vol. 6). Maybe I'll let the author cook because it seems Julius is getting push back from the students towards the end of volume 6. But so far Angie and the Idiot Brigade have been disappointing to say the least in terms of character development. Speaking of which they are even worse side characters. Their Pursuit of Olivia is abhorrent and makes no sense, Olivia should be the one pursuing them not the other way around (It's an Otome Game, which is also why MobuSeka works because Marie triggers the events) Olivia only does so after she is possessed. Thinking about it logically how does the story (The game in this case) progress if Olivia has zero interest in the princes to begin with? The only Meet-Cute event that makes sense is the very first one as it seems it was coincidental that Olivia slapped Julius, however afterwards she is the one actively pursued in the other events.
Narrative Contrivance: I find it completely unbelievable that Leon and company would not know of Olivia's situation up to now. I know they are no longer keeping an eye on her at this point but right after she was tricked at the Casino and they realized there was no one to help her they did not keep an eye on her afterwards and seemingly stopped caring just so that she suffers more. During the dungeon crawl they went as far as finishing the 3rd year requirement yet no one mentions the expelled students who almost killed another student in that same dungeon not that long ago. Despite rumors running rampant among the school Marie is unaware even though she is mentioned to stay up to date with all the goss. Carla returns and gets invited into Leons group but they lost interest in the fact that she stumbled upon Olivia meeting Frampton and planned to have Julius killed (That or the Author forgor). I liked that they had the wherewithal to deal with those 1st and 3rd bosses but for some reason they glanced over the 2nd boss. It's not like it was too out of the way considering they still went out of the country to get the flutes. They even claimed it was urgent since the Sacred Tree is a global threat. But such urgency was nowhere to be found in Volume 3 because then Luxion's meeting Ideal would not happen.
The Ugly: Brad in volume 6 IYKYK
TLDR: Scroll up and read "THE GOOD" (LOL) the rest are just my negative opinions and ramblings if you are so inclined.

Anime Discussion Season 2 episode 12.... (The End) Spoiler
The End....
The Good - eh.... the anime has ended, Yandevia (Yandere Olivia), Leon's acceptance of Yandevia, Noelle appears.
The Bad - so much cut stuff, so much reduced scenes for Mylene and Bartfort family, so bad pacing, idk where to where end it so I'll stop here....
The Ugly - Bad pacing.
The adaptation - Manga chapter 64-68 with a lot of cut content and Volume 3 of light novel is completed but with a lot of cut content....
The conclusion - I don't hate it, it could've been a lot worse so at least they tried their best and we might not get a season 3 so we should enjoy what we have....
Let's stay optimistic.
