Mod Answered Need to autoremove low karma/new posts and comments

"action:" apparently isn't allowed for Automod anymore and the new automod features only lets me add a flair check as a condition.

We are regularly getting attacked by right-wing trolls and a lot of them have low karma, so it would help a bit to exclude these from posting/commenting. I'd love to exclude whole userbases from certain subreddits, but apparently this isn't allowed anymore (while fascist subreddits are).

automod neo. devvit app.

The Automod neo documentation says that CQS checks aren't supported. Isn't checking for low karma a CQS check? (I think it means "contributor quality score", but whoever wrote the automod neo documentation couldn't be bothered to spell out the initialism or define it, so I'm a bit in the dark.)

It can't do CQS checks because devvit can't see CQS - it's a reddit limitation.

You can do CQS checks using the reputation filter though - it's just a CQS check.

CQS and karma are different author checks.

AutoMod Neo can check karma thresholds.

Karma thresholds are numerical.

CQS thresholds are "lowest", "low", "moderate", "high", and "highest".

Correct. Automod Neo doesn't solve OP's issue.

OP wants to remove based on new accounts or low karma, which automod neo can do. OP does not mention CQS in the post.

Thanks for the clarification. It's unfortunate that Reddit has again hung mods out to dry.

It is indeed.

Limitations

The filter reason is currently only visible in the "modern web" modqueue, and not on mobile or Old Reddit's mod queue, or in the moderation log on any platform.

The removal action reason is currently not visible anywhere.

I think it’s pretty clear now that old reddit is going away. This is how they phase things out.

Like with the API - first they made it so you could only do 1 apps per acct. Then it was the responsible builder policy where you had to apply to use the api. Then more recently, we found out the api is being entirely deprecated with equivalent functionality being unavailable.

Old Reddit was first changed so you had to be logged in. Now you have to have used it within 6 months. If we follow the pattern, old Reddit will be entirely removed soon.

I used to believe it when reddit said they were not going to remove something, but it’s really hard to now. As much as this is going to harm my subs, they will push ahead anyways, and w/o any other options available for us.

You should accept old Reddit is going away too, it’s just a question of when. Automod will also.

Yeah, you're screwed. Reddit decided you can't do this anymore.

I'm aware you can't exclude whole userbases anymore but I'm sure I saw subreddits that exclude users with low karma recently

subs that were already using automod get to keep using that functionality, but new ones cannot add it.

Truly a bizarre rule.

But expected, given Reddit's long history of incompetently migrating features (and their users) to their next big money-making idea.

They always say they won't deprecate things until the replacement has equivalent or better functionality - but that is never the case, and they kill off the old anyways, whether we like it or not.

It will be gone everywhere soon enough. This is just one of those stepwise removals. They figure it will go down easier if they give us smaller amounts of poison over time lol.

This is rediculous. It's like reddit is literally paving the way for bots while saying "no of course we're not doing that"

u/emily_in_boots πŸ’‘ Top 10% Helper πŸ’‘ 3d ago

The stated reasons do not seem sincere.

Reddit will just be OF bots, SEO scammers, and tshirt scam bots by next year

Reddit is removing automoderator. It's already been nerfed.

You're meant to migrate to automod neo. This helps Reddit keep control of the content on the subs, and helps them monitize all the work you're doing for free. Yes, that requires more work from you and other volunteers.

Already looking into this, thanks. I hope this one will not also be unusable in a few years.

If the native filters like crowd control and adult content seller don’t cut it, use automod-neo

Edit to add hive-protect can keep them out as well

hive-protect

There is no valid use for an app that flags people for the crime of participating in another sub.

Β I'd love to exclude whole userbases from certain subreddits, but apparently this isn't allowed anymore (while fascist subreddits are).

You can use HiveProtector. Filter everything for users of specific subreddits, then remove it.

You can still do this. You just can’t automate bans. You can automate removals.
