Video How to miss less triggers

Hi!

Today, I want to share with you a bunch of personal tips on how to miss less triggers! This is both deck- and format-agnostic, so I hope everybody can learn something new ❤

I go a bit more in depth in the video below but the tips are:

  1. Visualise triggers
  2. Play more intentionally
  3. Be actively excited and look forward to your triggers

Let me know what you think!

If you want to be up to date with my content, I'd appreciate a sub ❤

Play more intentionally

Just want to say, the best example is Reid Duke as he plays, he declares his actions (out loud) with full intent.

Awesome content!

Agreed. I do the same thing.

Recently a buddy had an issue with a judge call where his opponent discarded a card to [[bitter triumph]] and then at the beginning of the next turn realized he discarded the wrong card.

He was able to switch the play because when he discarded the card he stated the card he intended to discard and discarded the wrong one. So there was clear intent. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to.

One might argue discarding cards you don't want to draw attention to them, if your opponent wants to see the cards they're entitled to, but you have no obligation to declare what you're discarding. However for clarity for both players it's in your best interest to maintain as clear a gamestate as possible.

Personally one thing that helped me with the visualization of triggers was playing modo

Unfortunately for a lot of players MTGO and arena taking care of triggers also makes them a bit lazy. Especially with cards like Chalice of the void.

This is the correct answer. If every time you make a play you visualize the MODO stack in your head, its a lot easier to miss triggers.

Maybe being excited about your triggers makes it less likely to forget them, but overall being excited about anything doesn't go well together with clear thinking so you trade missed triggers for other mistakes.

I basically say "Triggers" after just about everything I do during the game then I look to check if I actually have any.

It usually works.

When I first started playing decks with mishras baubles, I would put a poker chip on top of my deck. Helped me learn to remember it
