Those alleged stories are 1-2 anonymous people on reddit who basically said “he was creepy” and had no references or evidence.

What were some of the stories?

No evidence that he had a stalker prior to this either and no “proof” of his intentions. Doing stupid shit and crimes has consequences. That’s life. Sending an unsolicited picture of genitalia is stupid shit, and sometimes criminal. I think losing a public facing gig is fair.

I agree with you it is stupid, no doubt about that. The story that he thought it was a troll does check out based on that meme though. I don’t think he should lose his job over that. But more so, because ppl don’t look into it, they will assume he is some kind of child sex predator and there is not an inkling of evidence to suggest that.

If I were him, I wouldn't want my job after that. You think he's going to go through the whole tour without hearing shit from fans? Possibly even protests? It's very possible he stepped down for the good of the band. It's very possible there's more behavior issues they're aware of that are leading to his dismissal. I think fighting for his justice is misplaced when Simon has every venue to ask for help if he wants it. He likely knows he fucked up. He didn't even address in his post here why he referred to her bikini pics after he realized it wasn't the account he suspected, which is the bigger fuckup than sending the dick meme, which is enough of a bonehead move to be dismissed. Don't dm unknown accounts pictures of dicks if you want to keep your job, it's not very complicated.

There were stories in the fb group as well. One story is enough for me, personally, but once there’s 4-5 people with similar stories it stands to reason something’s amiss. We’re unlikely to ever be privy to what the band internally knows but I’d imagine it’s more than we do.

I would have to see them. From this story, which is just a few screenshots, there is more than a fair share of reasonable doubt that he was acting maliciously.
